AITA for refusing to help my uncle cheat on professional assessments

I am a fairly new software developer - 3 years experience. My uncle came out of an early retirement 2 years ago - he is in his 50s and also a developer. On multiple occasions he has asked to pass off my work as his own or to take an online assessment for him to get an interview. I keep refusing - I don't believe in shortcuts and think people need to learn on their own. I am doing grad school and working full time, to prove a point.

I believe he has plenty of time to study up - he takes about 6 weeks of vacation / unpaid leave every year. Family is guilt-tripping me every time I refuse. AITA?

NTA. You don't owe your hard work to anyone just because they're related to you..

NTA—think of it this way: if someone cheats on any type of professional assessment, or even a class, it means that person is not qualified to do the job. If you help them fake their credentials, then you are helping to release an unqualified person into your field. The world messed up enough without that sort of thing. And then someone might hire him as a software developer, a job that he apparently won't be able to do. And you would be complicit. Don't help people cheat and the world won't have so many hapless morons in positions of responsibility.

NTA - If he can't get interviews based on his own abilities, he won't be able to do the work. Although I can sympathize a bit, getting a job in IT when you are over 50 is tough. I retired at 54 from IT, but started having trouble finding development work around 40, so I switched over to hardware and back-end maintenance.

I think most people outlive their 50s by a good margin.
