flats for a RaySS4?

Hi all - buying a stingray short scale 4 string soon, and I am deciding on what strings to try with it. Are flats a good combo with it? I am most into playing funk and grunge, with some classic rock thrown in (but I also have a Ibanez 34" PJ). If flats are good, what do people recommend for brand and gauge?

I recorded a couple different sets of flatwounds on my Ray35. It'll probably sound different from your shortscale Stingray, but you might find it helpful.

Just got my first SR type bass ever , a 2010iah Ray34 and I out chromes and it sounds AmAzInG . Fat and mellow ( if you don't boost highs too much ) Go for it

that is a 34" with different electronics than the SS4

I use flats on my 4HH Stingray and the sound is wonderful. I also had them on an Ibanez Talman 30, which is a short scale, and it sounded pretty badass.

I’m not super particular on strings, so I just used Ernie Ball Slinky short scale flats.

They have worked just fine for me.

have you used regular scale length strings on it ever? I know that's a common config.

I have not put regular scale on a short, so I can’t speak to it at all.
