78mm mouth canning jars?

6 points · submitted Sep 2026 by u/DeviantPost

So I got my canning stuff from my parents, and now i have a bunch of unused 78mm lids I'd love to use. The issue is, none of my jars fit these lids! I know theyre still around because my parents kept buying them by accident and couldnt find any jars to fit them either, can anyone point me to some jars i can use these lids on?

Are they for lug lid jars rather than mason jars? I get my lug lids and matching jars from fillmore container

I'm assuming you mean lids that look like this? In that case, no, these are the traditional canning lids, flat lids with the rubber seal that need seperate rings to hold them in place.

If you mean something else please clarify, I'd love to use up these things lol.

Yeah, I meant exactly that type, sorry.

Are you in Canada? These might be Gem lids. I think Forjars sells new Gem jars in Canada. Try Home Hardware?

I am! They do have the brand name "Gem" on them too! I'll check out home hardware, thank you!
