06sm carb solenoid removal
For those afflicted with a pair valve/carb solenoid. I understand the pair valve just puts filtered air in the header and makes for more pops, i dont really care about that. But the solenoid limits and makes for inconsistent acceleration in the first three gears. I hate that. These two things i see are always removed as a couple.
My question is, can i just remove the solenoid?
I found that unplugging it doesnt work. Doing that just makes the bike even more sluggish.

Yes you can. There are kits for sale that block off the port in the head after you remove the valve and the piping.

Ok so the U shape piping going from top to bottom mouted to the other side of the carb must have to come off as well. I removed just the solenoid today and found it to be very slow and sluggish in all gears.

Yeah if you don't remove that line and cap it off with a plate, then the head just has a hole in it to the atmosphere, and there are ports on the carb that need to be covered with vacuum caps.
Something like https://smartmoto-electronics.com/pair-valve-smog-block-off-blanking-plate-blp-205-en will give you what you need to remove the valve for good. I just grabbed the rubber caps from Napa and made my own block off plate, but I also have access to a metal fab shop. I'd put a little high temp Red RTV silicone on that little plate and let it fully dry before running the motor.

Followup, I pulled that hose off, carved up and jammed in a wooden plug with some grease to help it along and it worked. Wowee what a difference with minimal effort. She lifts up in first quite easily now. Anyone with a eu/asian model should do this its by far the path of least resistance i didnt even have to take the carb off.
