No roaches in traps=no roaches?

I moved into an apartment at the end of October with clear signs of a previous infestation. I’ve seen several dead, 3-5 oothecas and one (confirmed) live (squashed another thing rlly fast that could have been a nymph but couldn’t id)

I’ve sprayed with alpine 3 times, put down a ton of advion, gentrol disks and also put down duct tape to cover cracks behind the appliances and under the sinks and sticky traps everywhere. I have never caught anything in any of my numerous sticky traps

This week I’m out of town so I even cleared my kitchen counters, covered them with alpine, advion bait tacos and sticky traps near the sink, drove back today to check them and nothing.

If I have nothing in my traps does that mean no roaches?

Welcome to r/GermanRoaches. Please see the stickied post at the top of the sub for all you need to know about battling these bugs. It is a result of 35 years of experience in the pest control business. Many, many success stories have been reported after following the advice there.

If you have questions about Alpine WSG please see the label first.

If you live in Canada near the border, please check this link for information on importing pesticides for personal use. You need to personally be present to bring it over the border, so not everyone will be able to do this, but hopefully some of you find it helpful. Most provinces in Canada require that landlords deal with roach problems, so if you rent you may also be able to go that route. If neither of these is an option your best bet is to hire a pro.

Sounds like you may just be dealing with travelers from adjacent units who are unlucky enough to get stuck in your death trap of an apartment. Unfortunately that's just how it is in apartment living. Keep reapplying the aalpine every once in a while and check your traps often. That's about all you can really do.

Ok that’s what I am hoping. Thanks!

Hey I’m just following up on this since I’m going through something pretty similar myself rn. What ended up happening with this?

Unlikely_Obsession [OP]

Turned out good:) They went away after this post. I use alpine wsg once a month now for maintenance bc I do live in a hot roach friendly climate and I never see any roaches. The method here works!

Are you baiting them

Unlikely_Obsession [OP]

Yes they’re baited with squares of wax paper with ketchup on as well as with advion

I got the same issue sprayed, baited, igrs,  was seeing them every night, catching them on glue traps and then they just stopped, it's only been a month and I haven't seen one in a week
