Help running windows games in Kubuntu
So I replaced my laptops default windows OS that I've been using for years with kubuntu today and I am in the process of moving my backed up files from my hard drive to my new desktop. I've hit a wall because I have a bunch of games that are meant to run on windows I'd rather not lose progress in that obviously can't run on linux. I've downloaded wine and wine tricks in an attempt to get them running on emulation but all the tutorials I find online are so light on details they're practically useless and just wound up pissing me off. If anyone can point me to an in- depth tutorial that would be great, I want to start playing my VNs again.

I don't use a launcher, they're standalone executables that don't need a launcher.

Where did you buy the PC version of games and how old are they?

I got a few from itch.io, I have the classic yume nikki which I downloaded from the developers site, and a few from the high seas. They span from the early 2000s to fairly recent.

I see so you’re talking about indie games. In that case you’d either need an emulator or developer that has released a Linux version. In this case VMWare is available to emulate Windows as a virtual machine and then run the game from there.

Okay, thank you for the suggestion, I'm currently trying out bottles, which another user suggested, but if that does work I'll try it out! Also thank you for the advice about steam, though most of my games aren't from there I can now play the ones I do have!

Add the exe as a non-steam game to your steam library. Use proton experiential if it doesn't launch.
