Haven't received refund from big retailer - retailer claims money has been sent and bank claims no money has arrived.

I've spent months now calling back and forth between the bank and retailer, and have made basically no progress except to learn that the retailer has " definitely" sent me the money. Both the retailer and the bank claim no responsibility. I have the receipts from the store and the bank statements showing I have received no money.

How should I escalate the situation? Do I have a case in the small claims court? Can I claim any money for wasted time or must I stick only to getting my refund?

EDIT: I paid by debit card and should have recieved my refund in the same card/account.

Much obliged for any advice.

Ask the retailer for the refund payment reference and have your bank trace it before you raise a legal case.

If it does escalate to a legal claim you cannot claim for the time you invest claiming it.
