Spotted a bear going through our trash bin in north Longmont west of 23rd and main around 11pm. Be careful if you're in the area.

WE'RE HERE

WE'RE QUEER

WE DON'T WANT ANY MORE BEARS!

God, this subreddit is so much cooler than NextDoor. This was the correct response.

Let the bears pay the bear tax, I pay the Homer tax.

airunly

That's the homeowner's tax.

Queer Bears okay tho, right?

marktastic [OP]

As long as they pay the bear tax.

Good to know.

Glad you posted this. I just moved to Longmont along Airport Rd. Do you all think it is better to keep my trash can outside or in the garage? Don’t want a bear breaking down the garage door.

marktastic [OP]

Honestly I wouldn't even worry about it. It's not like bears are all over the place.

If you stop doing what you'd normally be doing, then the bears have already won.

That's a looong way from the mountains! I saw a bear in Boulder, but I can't imagine their commute to Longmont.

Not the first time that a bear was spotted in Longmont.

marktastic [OP]

Looked like a smaller possibly baby bear too. I was scared to go out and fix the bins for fear of the mamma bear. (Which I never saw)

Did you inform the authorities? If we are really going to be dealing with bears in the city now I think they should know about it :-(

marktastic [OP]

I did call animal control.

I have a couple pictures but they mighty be identifying so i don't really want to post.

That's not exactly a new thing. There were bears along Airport Rd. last summer.

cdawg414

That doesn't mean that it shouldn't be reported. Game officials want to know where sightings take place.

My comment was in response to you stating:

If we are really going to be dealing with bears in the city now....

And not about reporting it.
