The MCON is amazing

Hello all. Kickstarter backer here.

I understand your frustration . I too emailed mcon angry about my order not arriving . Literally arrived yesterday despite being a day 1 backer .

Anyways now that I have the device I love it .

It feels sturdy . Buttons are actually surprisingly quiet despite being clicky (good for bed play in my opinion)

I am fascinated by how strong the magnet is . That thing is super secure . It is switch2 levels of strength.

The kickstand mode is surprisingly excellent

I need more time with it but so far I’m very happy with my purchase .

I intend this to be an “emergency game device”

I have plenty of consoles handhelds and other mobile controllers that are more “functional” . But none are as versatile or as cool as the mcon

I am mildly sad that we never got the device that could be behind your phone discretely 24/7 but I’m happy with what we got

Agreed about the last point - I was looking forward to a thinner profile. Now that we have it, though, I don't think it would've had as many cool bells and whistles. My main issue with traveling with a controller is worrying about it turning on in my bag and draining the battery, or having the sticks get broken, and the MCON has neither of those issues!

well on some units the top plate isn’t very good at keep the little sleep lever down, as in you can nudge it a mm and it’ll wake and drain battery

on other units the top plate actually brushes against the sticks when you launch and unlaunch it

so good ideas but plenty of first gen ks jank

I love my MCON. Works great with my phone during my daily commute and great with my Surface at night, whether on my couch or in a hotel.

The only thing I'm bummed about is that I didn't have this in 2024 when I spent over 200 days traveling for work.

Edit: Condolences to all the Kickstarter backers. I deliberately didn't buy it from Kickstarter and pre-ordered it within minutes of the site going live so I've had mine for a few weeks and it as been awesome.

I got mine at the end of December. I am absolutely loving it. I’ve mostly been playing Dispatch via PS Remote Play and Arc Raiders via Xbox Remote Play, but I’ve also been playing Game Pass Cloud games on it as well. Very little input lag and the controller is comfortable for long periods of time.

Still isn’t super great for playing competitive online shooters via Cloud due to the very slight input lag that’s present… but I will say after playing several rounds of Overwatch this has been the most enjoyable handheld version of that game after having tried via Switch and a handful of other mobile controllers.

Ive had mine for almost a week and im coming to also realize its great. Ive been pocketing it most of the time and it works. I can very easily EDC if I really want and its versatile enough to be a phone controller or extra whatever controller. Plus it doesn't block the USBc port so I can still plug in Xreal glasses or charge.

I nabbed an ohsnap grip and charger and those are also excellent. You dont have to remove it for any other magsafe stuff so you can use it with mcon, chargers and more. Rad little ecosystem they built.

I kinda wish there was an option for a larger but still pocketable version. I have S24U and the controller feels a bit on the small side for it.

If you can hear it click. It’s not quiet. Plain and simple. If I can’t play it next to my wife while she’s sleeping it doesn’t pass the quiet test 😅

I mean nothing is going to be silent if it has any tactile feedback, but it is very quiet for a controller, and they did a very good job on that. Way quieter than any other controller I own. A fan or ambient noise helps a lot. I play mine next to my wife sleeping just fine, whereas using an Xbox controller is like a damn bop-it lmao

Also a day one backer and just got mine yesterday. Apparently I shouldn't have added a second one in a different color on the survey.

Aside being disappointed in the company for lack of communication throughout the entire process, they have delivered a solid product. So I'm happy about that.
