Nexus 5X is defective, no replacement under warranty.

So, I have had my 5X for a while, just under a year. I love the phone and haven't really had any issues with it, but over the last few week it was getting really hot when ever I was making phone calls, and would freeze quite a bit.

So Fi Support is allowing me return the phone for a full refund. That's great and all, however it leave me without a phone. And to make matters worse my wife and I are flying out to spend time with her family in Argentina in a couple weeks.

So I guess I have 2 questions.

Is it normal for google to just give you your money back and leave you without an option for a replacement device?

What would be the best way to get a Fi phone to use for the trip inexpensively? I can't really spend 400 on a replacement phone at the moment. International flights are not cheap!

The problem I think Google is facing is that the supply of replacement 5xs is just about gone, and warranties can only be settled by repairing individual devices.

And besides the X4, there are no modern budget phones on Fi.

Be thankful you are getting a full refund for that time bomb and buy a Moto X4. If you have decent credit you can use the free financing option to make it somewhere around $16/mo.
