I feel like it fell flat after half an hour or so - I lost interest in it, whereas usually I'm already thinking backwards about the episode as to what I might have missed and how much I can't wait to watch it again.

Agreed. I actually really preferred the ending to the beginning. The beginning was just a choppy set up.
