I remember at the last olympics there were numerous instances of women being called horrible things - one commentator called another medal winning swimmer a whale and all you think is "she could thrash your whiney little ass into next Wednesday, but you think it's ok to tell her and all the viewers that physical and mental achievement at the highest level after years of grueling training means nothing if YOU don't think she's pretty?"

I thought this was an interesting read on the pressure that women in all parts of society can feel because of how they look, especially female athletes and such. Nice to see it among the top 10 most read on such a big site too.
