Front End Application with SQL Server Back End

Hello,

I'm looking for some general advice and experience on creating my first VS project for work. My current experience is in maintaining and distributing an Access application as a front end, with SQL server (mixed with Access JET) as the back end. I've put a lot of effort in polishing the forms and general interactions and since I have VS, I want to try creating something that feels even more like a standalone desktop application.

What can I expect when comparing an application that is created/maintained with VS as compared to Access (user forms, viewing/updating/appending data, automating emails, deploying updates, etc.)?

Any info is greatly appreciated!

I was where you are about 18 months ago. A lot of C# learning ahead of you and un-learning bad habits from VBA. I also chosen WPF because I could not stand front end limitations of access forms designer. In overall I’m glad that I’m learning it, I’m no longer constrained by the framework but you have to consider that development is not that rapid.
