Cannot boot into graphical target form kernel version 6.1
Hi, since upgrading to kernel 6.1.x.arch1 a weird behavior happens which i'm not able to troubleshoot. After properly unlocking the Luks partition, either Xorg or the display manager (sddm) fail to start and as a result the system is completely frozen. I'm not able to login in any tty to see what's happening there.
Changing the default target to multi-user allows me to boot to a getty terminal. From there I can start sddm and the plasma session without any issue!
In addition, I never had problems booting with linux-lts which is now at 6.1.12 btw! i.e. same as mainline.
Hope I was clear. Ask me whatever is needed

There were some similar rumblings by other folks, but at least one was not arch and could have been initrd problem tho unclear to me.
Quick Aside to clarify kernel versions to avoid name confusion:
Arch packages are consistent with upstream for kernels

Sorry, I definitely made some confusion with kernels... - Last working stable kernel is 6.0.12. Latest non working stable kernel is 6.1.12. 6.2 is in testing to me. I'll try asap. - linux-lts works flawlessly - Haven't tried gdm - It's a Dell Xps 15 9570 (Optimus). Graphics run on Intel. Nvidia drivers are installed but used on-demand (prime-run)

linux lts is currently 6.1.14 - and that works flawlessly. sounds like your problem is solved (mostly)
great.
To get off lts and back to core, Probably simplest for you would be hand download linux, linux-headers from testing and pacman -U them (rather than turn on testing repo).
I imagine they didn't want to push 6.1.13 or 6.1.14 as they are about to push 6.2.1 - not sure what is holding it back tbh.
I have been running 6.2 for ages on several machines - all run smooth as silk :) My boards are all intel based.
gdm is far more mature. sddm actually had zero development for almost a year, and someone picked up working on it recently - so seems project has risen from ashes, I had nothing but problems with sddm - and zero problems with gdm (plasma or gnome).
I have a very similar laptop (precision 5520) - after many, many years using kde/plasma I gave up a year or so back due to it failing horribly with multi monitor issues and ETA for improvements was months to year or more - (believe current release supposed to finally improve on that). Anyway - running gnome on that laptop not had a single problem at all with any kernel - obviously ymmv :). In case that's helpful to know.

Could I use downgrade? I can see 6.2.1 in the list.

You mean if you turn on testing repo - then install
Then comment out testing and run
Yes - just don't pacman -Syu with testing repo unless you uncomment all testing repos.

Not sure where things stand for you - but another possibility is to blacklist the nvidia drivers and see if makes any difference.
