Say hello to Rein for me!

stalde [OP]

Is this a dream or Americans actually do know about Estonia and Rein Taaramäe?

FajitaJoe

Certainly. He's a very promising young rider. I worked with a guy who was born in Estonia and keeps up with the Estonian community in the US. He wasn't big into cycling at all, but he knew of Rein and we talked about him during the tour often. Cycling is one sport which the Americans don't dominate. It's nice to get exposure to things beyond our little corner of the world for a change.

Confused whether this comment about the US dominating sport is serious.

FajitaJoe

I was being serious. "Our" last 8 Tour de France wins have been revoked as cheats. This year and last year a Brit won. The year before, an Aussie. Sure there are other races, but the Tour is the pinnacle each year.

George1231

Ah sorry, I was referring to sports putside of cycling. The US are a good all round sporting nation but I would never describe them as the dominant country in world sport.

White_Lobster

Yep, and Jan Kirsipuu. But that's about it.

What about Tanel Kangert? He had a strong performance at Giro.

EpoxyD

I forget he was Estonian as well! The guy knows how to ride against the clock, that's for sure!

The only Estonians I know are Clement "Puppey" Ivanov and Arvo Pärt. The only thing I know about Estonia is that they can't into nordic
