Look for an apartment complex and park on the public street outside of it.
George Washington National Forest is basically your backyard from Winchester — tons of dispersed sites along the forest roads with the usual 14-day limit. I'd start with iOverlander and filter around GWNF; recent road condition notes there matter more than the spot itself. Check the ranger district rules before settling in, some areas close seasonally.
