OK, so having spent literally an entire day trying to get civ to work, I'm humbly asking for help

I've uninstalled 3-4 times, clearing out the leftover files in the folder each time. I've updated my drivers and repaired the C++ files. I've verified file integrity on Steam. And I still keep getting " EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" crashing the game before it even gets to the first turn.

It was working fine yesterday, so I'm pretty sure it was the latest windows update that fucked it up. But all I wanted to do with my day off was play a civ game, and that didn't work out.

So if anyone wants to give me the Eureka for the Computers technology and help me, I'd much appreciate it.

Edit: It's running now. Deleting save files might have done it, but I'm also playing in strategic view.

In any case, thanks for the assistance anyone who reads this

Do you have any active Mods? Have you tried with directx 11?

No mods. I've got the Frontier Pass + Both expansions

My computer has DirectX 12 installed, but I've been running on 11. When I try 12 the screen gets all fucked up and I get a trippy kaleidoscope pattern instead of a main screen.

11 I can at least pick my civ and click "start game", it just crashes after that.

It's not a great computer, but it's been running the game fine for like 2 weeks, so it shouldn't be a hardware limitation

This is weird but i deleted all the saves in civ 6 and the problem stopped.

I'll give it a shot. Certainly can't hurt
