Psych dept.: In both cases where women are pointed out, the main descriptor of their location was the man she was nearest. Why not say 4th woman from right?

I hate when people over-analyse these things. For instance:
Group of five black men and one white man that you want to point out to somebody.
You: The white guy.
Them: Oh.
Group of five white men and one black man that you want to point out to somebody:
You: The black guy.
Them: Dirty look.
