Is Laravel Doctrine considered stable/safe to use?

I like most things about Laravel, but I'm not really a fan of Active Record, so I'd like to use Laravel Doctrine instead of Eloquent. Is this a good idea for non-hobby projects? Laravel Doctrine seems polished enough, I'm only really worried because it doesn't look like it's that widely used.

I would say that it is quite stable and actively maintained. At my company we use it for an enterprise application and it works quite well. In some cases we had to extend it for our needs, but that was no big issue.

Not widely used generally means you've not come across implementations of it. I was in that camp until this past week.

The project architect took me through the implementation and I can see his reasons behind its use.

I guess the only thing it could hinder is your upgrade path (like any package really).

From memory, it’s a pretty thin shim over doctrine. If you are worried and want to use doctrine there is the option of just straight up using it and configuring it yourself.
