I've been a lurker on Reddit for some time now. Just created an account to get in on this action. I have been working through the javascriptissexy road map for about a week. I am very grateful to have stumbled upon this, as the only thing I have found missing is the peer pressure and social coding aspect.

Could you add the "extra credit" to the omnibus?

Thanks again for getting this going!

d0gsbody [OP]

Will add. Was just trying to get the post up.

I'm flattered that this prompted you to join reddit.

[deleted]

I also joined reddit for this lol.

d0gsbody [OP]

I can't say no cuz I'm too busy say hells yea.

rotatopoti

same here. saw the group mentioned on the learn javascript properly website.

slspreng

when does the next new session begin? this is awesome.

dloko85

Yes, I just signed up for Reddit after discovering this, also wondering when this is starting again? I'm going to start the course anyway -- my employer is setting apart eight hours a week for me to focus on acquiring JavaScript skills, so I'm pretty stoked about this!

ReaverKS

I didn't just sign up for reddit to do this, but I do want to be a part of this, when will the be done again. I've purchased the definitive javascript book and I've already completed the HTML/CSS stuff on codeacademy. I'm ready to rock, let's gooooo =)

elamo

hey, did you find out about a session? I wanna get one going like this week. I'm sort of at the "finished with codecademy" stage.

JusTrill

Awesome, thanks d0gs!

For those using JavaScript: The Definitive Guide, be sure to keep this link handy:

I've already found a few errors, particularly in chapter 6.

[deleted]

I just found out about this. Would it be too late to start now? Thanks!

d0gsbody [OP]

Gonna run more sessions soon (with increased support).

[deleted]

I would love to be involved with the next session. Any idea when it will start?

d0gsbody [OP]

In the next day or two. Started planning things today.

[deleted]

Awesome. I am excited. Thanks for doing this.

Hypnotix

Great! Thanx a lot for organizing this, cant wait to get started!

mazer__rackham

JUST FINISH MY FIRST WEEK LESSON.

speedonl

So did it work for you, I wanna start this course too.. thnx!

ZGVyIHRyb2xs

I am late to the game but who cares :) I will start on each week and play catch-up!

d0gsbody [OP]

Please help me by suggesting things to include in the post!

I just happened upon this. Looks like just what I need. I've just finished the JS track in Codecademy a week or so ago, so perhaps this will give me the time I need to catch up with the other reading since I'm late to the party here.

d0gsbody [OP]

Week 1 was really easy. Shouldn't be hard.

edubba

Thanks a bunch d0gsbody for helping put this study group together!

I've been trying to learn JS on my own for the past week. I've made some progress with the basics but have trouble wrapping my head around more complicated concepts like closures, prototypes, and such. Fortunately, I've found out about this study group yesterday. I'm behind, but I should catch up within the next day or so.

I hope I will be able to solidify my basic understanding of JS and make further progress into the advanced topics with help, support, and motivation from JS mentors and fellow students!

Ditto to what Klaze said, I have been studying javascript for about a month now, but have felt aimless since I finished javascript... Was mostly just solving Project Euler and reading code from daily reddit programming challenges. Came across javascript is sexy and am excited to join this group. Gonna spend the next few days catching up on the reading material.

TLDR- Shout out to d0gsbody and any other moderators. Excited to join this group

Real_Klaze

I am way behind, hoping to catch back up with the group this weekend.

I started reading Eloquent JavaScript as well. I love the way it is written, but as soon as I hit chapter 6 it was like a train wreck. Now I feel like a child attempting to shove the square block in the round hole, while the author is tap dancing, balancing plates, and throwing round blocks through the round hole, standing 50 ft away, and all the while gleefully declaring "don't worry about it, well be using this stuff the rest of the book"...shit.

d0gsbody [OP]

Read more Prof JS for Web Devs, go back to Eloquent JS once you're farther in.

Dude, this is awesome. You should post a link to this in the comments section of each Monday's post.

Needs more giraffe facts, though. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

To anyone who finished this course; did you do well? If so, are there any projects have you made? Also do you feel like you mastered javascript?

jasondangelo4life

Hello World! I am learning javascript. I started with codeacademy but am looking for something more personalized and in depth. I stumbled across this site and it looks exactly like what I need. I am excited to get the books and get started on this journey. To the folks that are running this show, thank you for taking the time and resources for people like me.

[deleted]

Thanks for putting this together! I'm ready to learn this properly than my shitty professor at school =D

[deleted]

I just want say thank you for putting this together. I have been going over the lessons on JS in codecademy and this was the last missing puzzle for me as well. If anybody has already finished the curriculum, please post your results and share with us.

Thanks.

Brasdyn_77

I also wanted to thank the group who put it together, I am going to have to play catch-up though...
