Anyone use python for making images for print?

Trying to figure out if it's sane for me to try to use a CMYK colourspace when generating images in python, and am wondering if anyone's given this a proper go already. Any resources appreciated!

Can you be more specific? In what way exactly are you making images?

To give a simple example:

I might have some text I've drawn in an image editor and saved as greyscale. Then I can load it in python with cv2 as a 2D numpy array, and make a formula to turn it into a colourful (CMYK or LAB) 3D array. I could generate a background using formulae and put the colourful text on top of that. Maybe put some images on top and cross-fade them using custom cross-fading effects. Also, I'd have all the basic source images in a source folder and a script so that the process is all open-source and I can use the techniques again for future posters.

I guess what I'm looking for specifically here is a way to convert CMYK to RGB using darker colours rather than clipping or limiting, a way to save an array as a CMYK TIFF file, and some understanding of what I need to know about FOGRA39.
