Mutation

New to game. If you mutate onto one card can you mutate again taking both cards onto a third?

You can mutate onto an existing mutate stack yes. And all the underlying abilities will be triggered when you do so.

Just understand that mutate is an alternate casting cost, not an activated ability. You can't take a creature that's already on the field and mutate that onto something else.

You can mutate onto the merged creature. You can't mutate the merged creature onto something else, because mutate is an alternate casting cost and you don't cast things that are on the battlefield.

Only if the 3rd card in question has mutate and is mutating the existing 2-creature mutate stack. Once you make the first mutate creature, you can't just mutate it again onto another creature. It's not an activated ability. The mutate cost is an alternate casting cost that can only be paid at the time of casting from hand (with the exception of brokkos who can be cast for his mutate cost from grave).

Got it, thanks

Yes. All the mutate ability’s trigger as well.

If I am understanding what you are trying to say, you can mutate the third card onto the creature you have already mutated whether that be on top of the creature stack or under

It when it’s already on the field, unless the card you’re casting has a mutate cost
