Recovering old grids from save game / python utility (help)

About 3 years ago my friends and I built a very large ship 25k blocks

I found the savegame and was noodling around with it, but it wont load, the savegame uses mods that are missing, (I think, or somehow unavailable)

regardless, I know the main ship only used a handful of mods and those might still be available, I don't quite yet know.

I've written a python tool that extracted that's grid's xml from the SBS file, and I was thinking "I'll just find all the modded blocks and figure out what I need an then integrate just this ship into a new savegame, and see if I can "ressurect it"

as I'm going through the process I realized there's no way of knowing which blocks are mod blocks explicitly.

I think the only way forward is to have a list of all vanilla blocks so I can just ignore them. This is the nature of the question I'm asking, is there a place where all vanilla blocks <SubtypeName> are listed? The backstory is to avoid the X/Y issue.

I hope I can get this beast extracted and living again.

To answer your question the vanilla sbc files are located on your install drive under SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineers\Content\Data\CubeBlocks

Did you remove the old mods from the save file and try to load it? That's what I did when I had a similar issue.

But there is also SEToolBox. It's a save file editor that can extract grids from save files and import them into other save files. Here is the link.

The save game comes from a server, and the mods / files don't seem to exist anywhere in this backup.

I forgot about SEToolBox! I didn't go look for tools as I have other secondary objectives and reading the data and restoring it was stage 1

But you're absolutely right, it def. does what I need to restore the grid to another file.

You can see a list of all TypeId/SubTypeIDs at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1k1sc0zlkYMSf7eNddpzisqk10Fo9n2e0/ if that helps?
