Is e-mail subaddressing still effective?

Hi,

I recently looked into e-mail subaddressing, where you put a + at the end of your username and then something extra so you know which company sold you out or so you could easily block all emails to that address later on. But I was wondering if this is still a effective measure as the logic behind it is quite simple. From the spammer's side you could easily implement a search and replace (replace "+*@" with "@") and you're good to go. I would love to hear your thoughts on this an whether I should implement this for my new email account.

Kind regards,

Jimmy

Just my $0.02 but, in my experience, many websites incorrectly reject email addresses with a + sign. I think that's a bigger problem than spammers that go through the trouble of eliding everything after and including the + sign.
