Problem with logic board

Hi guys, I would like to seek your opinion on whether I should send my thinkpad t495 for repair or not. It is out of warranty so I took it to a third party repair shop. They checked my Thinkpad and replaced the internal display but it continues flickering and now they suspect its a logic board failure and quoted me a $300 repair. If I connect my thinkpad to a external display it works perfectly fine. If I decide to not proceed with the repair, would the logic board problem affect other parts of my system eventually?

They first took the laptop in then replaced the screen but it continued flickering so they are re diagnosing it now. I'll see what the quotation is first I guess

Motherboard you mean ?

They said logic board apparently, but they are doing a detailed check again

Yeah, nah logic board are the name of Apple’s motherboard, I for once would recommend checking the issue with Lenovo or some people that know how to repair Thinkpads, they will do a better job at it most probably, and if you hook it up to an external monitor and it works fine, I don’t think it is a motherboard issue.

I think they are used to MacBook repair and not thinkpads and thus they don’t know what they’re doing, ofc they want to replace the motherboard it’s the most expensive part of the computer, judging by the fact they told you it was a “logic board” they’re just repairing MacBook and that’s all…

Hmmm, my laptop is out of warranty so it would cost more for me to bring it to lenovo service center than a third party...

Surely is the logic board. I've had this issue on a T440p, same deal.

Eventually the laptop also stopped booting after using it on the external display, so yeah, it'll stop sooner or later.

Alright then I'll wait for them to quote me on the price of the repair first
