Crashes with Intel 13900K
Ladies and gents. I've come seeking help to manage my frustration with the turn crashes in TW:W3. I know this is an issue with the 13th and 14th gen Intel processors.
I've followed the latest Intel BIOS settings and even went with "Performance" versus "Extreme". I still get crashes. It genuinely saddens me, man, because I played tons of TW:W2 on my old rig.
Anyone have this issue and solved it? Do the dark gods need to intervene?
I've attached said Intel recommendations sheet for reference. Will also post to the Warhammer specific sub.

The Intel 13/14th gen stability issues are the result of permanent physical damage to the CPU due to excessive voltage. Dialing down the settings can help reduce the frequency of crashing, but if it's already affected then it will likely get worse over time regardless. I don't know what the RMA process is like for chips affected by it. Obviously Intel is going to minimize replacing affected chips, because the scale of the problem is too massive for them to do otherwise.
Obviously when there's a crashing problem it is not necessarily the 13/14th gen Intel chip at fault, but there's a significant probability of it being the problem and it's very hard to prove either way. Easiest way would be to swap out the CPU with a new chip, but that's not feasible for most people.

Man. I feel like we all got hoodwinked and really turns me off of Intel. Is swapping to an AMD possible, or would I have to scrap everything? I'm fairly ignorant to PC building, btw.

We haven't verified that the CPU is the actual problem, so it's hard to recommend any particular course of action.
To swap over to AMD, you would have to replace the motherboard as well, and you likely don't have an AMD-compatible mounting bracket for the CPU cooler. It sounds like the cooler may need to be replaced regardless. You could possibly reuse the RAM if it's DDR5 instead of DDR4.
I'd recommend reinstalling Windows when doing a CPU brand/motherboard swap. Windows 10/11 can do the conversion and it should just work, but the risk of running into weird OS-level issues is higher than a fresh install. That could mean buying a new storage drive if you don't already have multiple SSDs.
You're looking at significant money over a replacement CPU, but a 9800X3D would actually be an upgrade in many CPU-bottlenecked games, so there's that. You'd have to look it up on a game-by-game basis. With the fixes that Intel has done, it would be arguably be better to just have the chip replaced. If you don't do content creation then the 13700k would perform identically and have better thermals.

I really appreciate your input, man. I'll try some smaller tweaks first and see what happens.
