Cherophobia

Nothing hurts more than tranquility
No agony is worse than the punishment of calm
Because every unburdened dawn
Always means something went terribly wrong

I curse my mother for all of her love
Despite the countless wounds I have caused
And I cursed my father all the worth
He instilled into my pitiful self
But the worst curses I reserve for you
The unforgivable mistake trapped in the mirror
For hopelessly clinging to life

A child raised in emotional absence
Could never hope to understand the meaning of joy
Nor could an abandoned old dog
Can’t help but view the world with contempt

I welcome every misfortune with open arms
For making this loathsome existence a little less dull
Greeting the painful consequence of every terrible choice
With a smile knowing my self-inflicted suffering
Will be prolonged with cease
