The interstate highway system was created primarily to facilitate the movement of military goods and supplies around the country in case of a war, and in the meantime it is used to move goods and labor around the country. One of the big advantages to the highway system over rail is that you can bomb sections of it and still have redundant routes to get stuff where it needs to go, pretty much like how the internet backbone system is constructed. Eisenhower, who you might recall was the military leader of our armed forces through World War II, saw first hand what happens to supply lines that depend on a few railways, and pushed for the creation and funding of our highway system from the beginning of his presidency in 1953. Even today the strategic importance of highway systems is being shown as Ukraine systematically bombs Russian railways, which Russia has become dependent on.
The purpose of its creation doesn't matter, what matters is the consequence, which was a disinvestment in inter-city transit in favor of the automobile.
You want to portray the adoption of personal car ownership as something that was forced upon people against their will
Wrong. Another strawman argument. And fuck you for putting words in my mouth.
With a car you can go anywhere you want, any time you want, and at a reasonable cost for the vast number of people who own cars.
Until your car breaks down, you become too old to drive or you're disabled. Cars are not "a reasonable cost", they're among the largest personal expenses.
most people that don't hate cars would like to have one.
The constant road rage, speeding and aggression says otherwise.
You hate cars. You want cars exorcised from our culture and economy.
Nope. I hate car dependent design and infrastructure. And fuck you again for putting words in my mouth.
I'm ok with you choosing to live a car-free life,
I own a car you absolute dip shit.
fund 95% of DART's budget in order to get you those sweet heavily subsidized fares that don't even cover 5% of DART's operating costs, it'd be nice if you'd show car owners a little gratitude. At some point I think maybe it's time to start thinking about mandating that DART fund at least 95% of its operations from fares.
Guess how much automobile infrastructure is taxpayer subsidized. Here's a hint, it's 100%. So the next time you see someone riding the bus or a bike be sure to thank them.

You're like a punching bag that keeps coming back.
Don't make me bitch slap you again. Stay in your lane.

Did you not read literally the next paragraph? Honestly, are you stupid or illiterate?
“Over the course of the outbreak, we have been very aware of a small number of deaths being reported on our dashboard that end up not being due to COVID… We will be removing them over time from our death count.”
Generalaverage89
You clearly thought it was contagious, why would you need to lock down otherwise. Idiot
Generalaverage89
I wasn't the one who made the claim so shutup
Generalaverage89
I bet you're going to get downvotes because people don't like to hear facts that get in the way of their narrative.
Generalaverage89
BINGO!!!
- Says someone else is blind
- Calls someone else sheep
- Mentions vaccines
Generalaverage89
What's absurd? That someone is tweeting? Cause I hate to break it to you but there has already been at least one president known for his tweets.

Is NHTSA a "reputable source". They won't let you share reports without logging into some "MobiDrive" program, but they list speeding, intoxicated driving, and failure to wear a seatbelt as the three leading factors in highway traffic fatalities. All three of these things are prime examples of shitty driving (or, in the case of seatbelts, shitty riding?).
For the second time now, we're not just talking about highways. You don't listen very well do you? Regardless because I know you're going to bitch, the only factor that could be considered "shitty driving" is speeding, so why do people speed? Oh yea it's because of road design.

But hold up let's go back a second.
Wrong. Cause and statistical likelihood are not one and the same.
This statement and the rest of your comment was entirely once again a strawman argument. My comment you responded to mentioned nothing about street design being the "cause" of accidents, the argument was solely that design encouraging people to drive over other forms of transport will lead to more more dying and being in collisions.
Which your comment then prompted my response about how street design causes accidents.
"shitty driving" is so vague and ambiguous it's essentially meaningless, this is an ambiguity fallacy. It's like saying the majority of car accidents are caused by people. Everything from careless mistakes to wilful negligence could be "shitty driving"
But that doesn't even matter because if the street design enables "shitty driving" then the design is just as at-fault.
You have provided exactly 0 actual sources to back up any of your claims. Your argument can be dismissed. In summary sit the fuck down and shut up you clown.
Generalaverage89
You're too kind.
Generalaverage89
They forgot to change to their other account lmao.
Edit: on second thought maybe they're just crazy. Who really knows.
Generalaverage89
When someone uses an e-bike instead of a car, yes.

This is why I said you're out of date. Please educate yourself

You don't have to be an expert on batteries to spend 5 minutes researching to prevent yourself from looking like an idiot by saying something like "They're functionally the same as the battery in everybody else's car there's just like 40 of them in the electric vehicle"
It's a libertarian position parroted by idiots. It's not worth engaging with OP. No amount of logic or facts will change their mind.
