"But you're the vocal minority here and the day night cycle shouldn't be changed to be totally arbitrary just because a small % of players work 7 days a week and can only game exactly at midnight on weekdays."

Hahahahaha you're so pathetic. "I don't give a shit about others, go play perma at night time and shut up, I'm the one entitled to enjoy this game as I want, fuck you !".

Sure dude.

Techtech1234

Wtf, can you read for real?

That's absolutely not what anyone suggest in such threads. What is suggested as an alternative most often is to make the day duration either slightly lower or slightly higher than 24h, so that it rotates overtime during the month. This way it's never a fixed cycle.

For example, during the 1st week of the month, people mostly playing in the evening will see daytime, while 2 weeks later they'll be playing during dark time of the day.

Learn to read ffs. When you say to change nothing, YOU are the one that's being an asshole to the rest of the player. Our suggestion makes it so everyone is treated the same, and it's a better solution than a toggle / being able to choose our own time, so that everyone leaves the same atmosphere in your server.

Techtech1234

I can't believe you're serious lmao. You're so out of touch. Not everyone is unemployed, or lives alone without responsiblities, or has perfect freedom in their days and planning.

Making the day/night circle slightly variate day after day is the best solution for everyone, no matter who you are geographically in your server zone, no matter your job schedule or your gaming preferences, one may experience all of the very nice graphic changes Blizzard has implemented.

Just stop being so ego-centric for the love of god.

You really seem to think that the spec is similar to how it was in classic but it really isn't at all. It doesn't have great mid range burst damage anymore.

Unless radical changes, chain lightning and LB both have base damage and ratios that are much, much, much lower than what it was, talking like more than halved values. Also, no guaranteed crit anymore.

Currently the spec doesn't have any identity, it's really unfinished and lacking anything interesting compared to other caster specs, such as procs to react to, stacking mechanics, big button, crits, alternating complementary spells, things to do with weapon imbue, special totem that can't be used by resto, etc.

Most importantly, the ele talent tree, as well as the 2 other to a lesser extent, makes absolutely no sense. It's straight up uninspired and boring, with no coherent synergies.

Elemental has never been a battle mage. Forever enhancement with Maestrolm probably is what's the closest to that. Ele's goal in classic always has been to either burst and/or kite, but that's not possible anymore in Forever. It needs to be changed.

We are not talking about damage, this will be fixed. But the spec in general just is very bad.

Techtech1234

This guy gets it ! (although paragraphs would help :D)

Techtech1234

Wait 110gb? For real? I have only ~73gb free space (can't go higher) and I could successfully install the stress test client, which I've heard is the same we're gonna use at launch, and it was around 60gb I think. Is the actual game that much heavier?

Techtech1234

Sadly your assumption is false. Both base damage and ratio is worse. In current numbers and talent state, we know it does way less than in classic, and it's getting only worse with higher sp values.

Techtech1234

Wait, for real? Besides IF and starting zones,, there are no other non-capital cities places with shaman trainers?

Techtech1234

No you're missing the point, dps is easily tuneable by Blizzard into good damage through base damage / ratios / talent numbers and gear. With enough time they will succeed for sure.

What's harder to expect from blizzard is a good rotation and good design in general.

Currently the rotation is 3 buttons (and one of them has 20 yards range). Besides that, there is no reactive proc to play for, there is no stacking mechanic, there is no flavor/fun through crits or something we may be looking forward to.

And PvP also looks very bad, not from a duel standpoint, we don't care about duels, but in general PvP the class really doesn't look fun without a relevant replacement for elemental mastery.

The class design, talents, and identity is just extremely bad and boring right now. That's the problem.

Techtech1234

The issue is that currently it's only fire, and only a meatball that hits exactly like lightning bolt that has slightly different numbers. They have not suggested earth/water or other things relevant, so with that choice, the easiest is to say that we want lightning/CL instead of lava burst.

But of course more power to them if they magically come up with a more "elemental" approach.

Techtech1234

You really shoudn't worry about "raid viability". Blizzard has made very clear that all dps wll be around ~5% variance from "hybrid" class to "pure" dps classes, so even though now you may hear here and there that things are not balanced, that will be easily tunable later through base damage number, spell ratios, talent numbers, gear etc. Unless you're raiding in a super sweaty guild, it won't matter.

The other thing to worry about though, is specs design/rotations/flavour/identity. And in this aspect, elemental is very bad at the moment, and this is much harder to solve than number tuning. I think most "bad feedback" you've been witnessing so far is rather about those design problems.

Techtech1234

But do you also know the actual difference of average xp earning from mobs/quests between the 2? If lvl 59-60 mobs/quests give ~ 7x as much as 1-10, then the 2 ranges are equivalent for example

Techtech1234

So you're saying it's worse than "the gameplay just devolves in 3 buttons without any proc" ?
You could argue that both are bad and the proc aren't a significant improvement. But otherwise I'm confused.

Techtech1234

Disagree, there is no reason why you should get outranged and kited by another caster despite that we're more hard casting than either mage/warlock/spriest on average. Elemental reach already puts our hard casts range on par with those other specs, having flame shock not matching this range is just plain bad design since we can't fully take advantage of our 21st capstone without it.

Plus having shocks that have a better range should be a feature that distinguishes elemental from enhancement, I think it should be extended to the other shocks.

There are obviously many other problems.

Techtech1234

Yup.. I don't mind, good for mages. But I'd like to see the same love for other specs

Techtech1234

Go to the link I wrote, and look below in anterior changes.

Techtech1234

The biggest reason for it is the raid sizes. Most raids are gonna be 10-20 mans, so it would be problematic to incentivize raid compositions with 3+ paladins or 3+ shamans still.

Stuff like salvation and windfury are so central to raids (which to me is just bad design) that they need workarounds to reduce the number of paladins/shaman "required" for a raid to function, hence the salvation-not-a-blessing and windfury being raidwide among other things.

Your raid power won't change much without a 3% crit druid buff, but it functions entirely differently with or without buffs such as salvation/windfury.

Techtech1234

Yes, we need stacking/proc mechanics related to chain lightning, something that makes the class feel interesting to play both in PVE and PVP.

And either delete lightning overload, or make it proc much more often, and/or add the stacking mechanics to it.

Techtech1234

That's not true though, they revamped tons of other specs and did it somewhat successfully compared to what they did to elemental shaman.

What you say doesn't make sense and is just adding unecessary confusion : Elemental shaman needs to be reworked as mage/destruction/balance was reworked, and if some other specs are still bad, they should be changed as well.

Techtech1234

First, I'd like to say that there is a huge potential for modifications in the elemental tree, since currently it's probably one of the worst designed tree of the 27 specs.

Plenty of things to move around, and plenty of room to be made in rows 5 and 6 to make the elemental spec feel truly unique.

You can just have a look at the balance/destruction/frost/arcane/fire specs to see the current state of the tree is kind of a joke.

Here is an alternative tree I suggest : https://www.talent-builder.dev/trees/WqBzKspa6u

Edit : They should at least definitely 1) increase lightning overload proc change 2) add chain lightning talent/interactions 3) add mana/threat/hit management

---

What I vote for your suggestions, in my order of preference :

5 - That's the best suggestion here for me. We need interesting/reactive/proc/stacking gameplay, at least in 1 way. 10/10.

2 - That would be very good but still wouldn't be enough, we need more than 2 buttons rotation. 7/10

1 - 100% crit chances on a certain condition has been reported to be a bad approach because it neglects the critical strike chances of your gear. 3/10

3 - Not sure to understand this one. Would it refresh the cooldown of lavaburst? Would it autocast lava burst? Any of the things I can think of seem good. And adding a proc to an instant spell doesn't look right. 2/10.

4 - That's boring and not creative. 1/10

6 - Boring. Increasing the damage of LB relative to LvB will not make it interesting or meaningfully change the gameplay. I think we should really insist that dps is not the issue, it's easily tuneable by blizzard in order to reach the ~5% hybrid tax in raids. 0/10

7 - Flame shock has a cooldown of several seconds, I'm not sure how that would translate into meaningfull aoe? And how would the cast of lava burst work? Still a projectile?

Techtech1234

Fuck man that was so good. Don't care about the high dps numbers, but plenty of numbers with crits in there feels so good.

Techtech1234

So why should it be the same in Forever? Prot warrior was shit in Classic to level, now it's interesting. Why writing such comments?
