The entire game feels like an undermined premise. They made a PvE game, added PvP and did nothing to make it make sense. Story in-game, logistics, weapon design and balance, ARC design... Add on a complete lack of foresight and ability to deal with cheaters, and a basic design that encourages degenerate gameplay (both PvE and PvP), and I'm not sure why they're only thinking about the premise of the game now.

The new meta - sympathy scalping

tomit12

I came away thinking the exact opposite, and the vapid concerns presented here make me think I'm on the right track.

tomit12

I don't care about racials, I'm just going to figure out where the worst of the streamer plague will be and then do the opposite.

tomit12

Any time someone says grow up you know it's like the squeakiest squeaker you've ever heard in chat lmao

tomit12

While this is probably overblown and I don't care for the "my megacorp is better than yours" thing... This gif cracked me up.

People come up with this stuff so fast now.

The main thing I was curious about is the one thing he specifically called out not testing. The information is still interesting, but I find the thing most MnK players have the most problem with is tracking, which is the comparison I wanted to see.

I mean we know how it works when you aren't actually trying to aim but... What real match case does that actually represent? Are there a lot of controller players not bothering to push the stick in the general direction of who they're shooting at?

We know different CoDs have actually handled this differently, so I was curious where MW4 fell here.

tomit12

Kind of in the same boat. Couple things I've noticed - first, it's like the SBMM doesn't know what to do with me. One match everyone is my victim, the next match I might as well just swap my gun with lube and run around yelling "free glory hole". Maybe the SBMM is still "training" so we're just guinea pigs for a while... Who knows.

The other thing I've noticed is desync and other issues. I had one battle where someone else and I (as shown in the stats thing) both shot each other with an M4, 5 times, exclusively in the chest. I did 99 damage, they did 104. Given the damage on the gun / attachments, I can't figure out how this game does it's mathin'.

I've also rewatched some clips and noticed there are times I would get 3-4 hit markers before someone even turns around, I evaporate a fraction of a second later and the game is like "nah, actually you got 2 and they got 5"... Allllrighty. My ping hovers somewhere around 25-30 so maybe it's just server strain from launch.

I probably just need to give in and swap to a controller. I've fought the fact that constantly doing the slide cancel jump duck spaz movement is vastly easier when the game assists with staying on target for years now, but maybe it's time.

tomit12

Eh, this is a problem that will take care of itself when a rock starts grinding it's way out of his urethra

tomit12

Sometimes you can look past someone's looks when you find out they're a donor match

tomit12

"wait, there's a downside to using this?!"

tomit12

Hmm, I guess it's better than handsome Squidward Jun, but being able to just customize the character would probably be better.

tomit12

Yeah, I can see some of these, depending on your personal skill or whatever. Like if I get the jump on a group I'm probably still losing anyway, and if someone can run and heal then I failed to kill them first, which is a skill issue (of which I have many).

Not sure I agree with the game sense part... If I know it takes me longer to kill people, I feel like I'd need to be more aware of what's going on considering time is now more of a factor. Definitely agree on the meta point, though people camping corners with snipers has been a CoD plague for a while now.

I haven't dove into MP in this one yet, and my last one was BO6, so I'm curious how jarring this is going to be!

tomit12

That makes sense, though I feel like I'd blame myself there... But I run into skill issues all the time so :D

tomit12

I'm actually curious as someone who plays but pretty casually - what does the TTK effect? Like if it takes you longer to kill them, it also takes them longer to kill you so that's a wash, so what are the other effects of the higher TTK?

Edit - down voted for asking a question... Love you guys 💕

I think it just shows that there is an audience for these style games that are just PvE-centric. It also shows that what Embark in particular has built that appeals to people who might not have normally played that type of game, but took a chance on it anyway. If Embark can make a mode that has zero effect on the other mode (these people already weren't playing; see the steam chart), then why not?

Maybe it even brings in people who come for the PvE, decide to try the PvPvE and end up actually liking it, making the player base of both modes that much healthier. I think the stashes / characters should be separate, but otherwise it's a good thing, and I don't think they should listen to people with useless contributions to the conversation like "why did you buy it if you don't like PvP lolololokdjrdlodllolol"... Talk about some puddle-deep thinking.

tomit12

It's funny because when thinking about whom I would like to end up with the IP, Owlcat is on the short list.

tomit12

Yeah, though I'd be hard pressed to tell you what a DA game actually is, mechanically.

DA:O was more strategy heavy and more like a traditional RPG. 2 went more the direction of an action RPG and had that weird "just fast travel between these few small maps" world. DA:I was like an offline MMORPG, though they did at least try to get closer to DA:O with the (somewhat clunky) tactical mode. Veilguard went fully back the direction of an action RPG.

ME started as an RPG shooter and they just started leaning more heavily into the shooter part. DA was like the proverbial "box of chocolates". I thought they got pretty close to nailing it the first time and could have just iterated in that.

The overarching (grand story) writing wasnt too bad, the combat was quite fun, and there was some fantastic environmental art.

Where it fell down was the kind of bad character models and painfully bland companions. The "non-binary" thing was wildly overblown - it's the example of that kind of (extreme scare quotes here) "woke" in the game, and in the grand scheme of the companion writing it's like complaining that a car has a scratch on the paint... After coming out of a car crusher.

Veilguard not doing well didn't help, but I'd argue the ME:A / Anthem debacle did vastly more damage to the studio. All 3 shared a similar issue, though - actually solid gameplay with writing that let it down.

tomit12

Not with that attitude!

tomit12

I've tried most of them, and unfortunately the closest is the Naga V3. It's the only one Ive found that also has the ring finger button, which is a large part of why I liked the G600 in the first place.

I will say that, though they've gotten better with time / use, when I first got it the left and right clicks were like what the screams in spring hell must sound like. Like distractingly awful.

tomit12

I like dragon riding, but have never been on board with flying in general... But I played on a PvP server when it first launched and it basically murdered open world PvP, so I'm a little bitter there.

That, and I honestly like traveling through the world, but everything since flying is designed for... Flying, so trying to just use ground mounts means you're largely just ice skating uphill through a world now designed to be experienced at 300mph from 500ft up.

The idea of flying never rearing it's head is genuinely one of the things I'm excited about with Forever.

tomit12

I don't even watch anime and I actually kind of appreciate it. Most things I buy come in boring, generic packaging... At least the waifus are interesting. Adds a little fun to something we usually just entirely ignore.

I have like 4 Crinear boxes at this point, so I still get my fill of lifeless packaging.

tomit12

This has to be ragebait... Because who looks at Callina Liang and thinks "not hot enough"?

tomit12

I'm just here wondering what I haven't been getting with my purchases
