Rhaenys and Alicent weren't actually in equivalent positions. Rhaenys had already lost a formal succession dispute. She accepted that decision because she had little realistic alternative. Viserys had repeatedly undermined his own succession arrangements. He named Rhaenyra heir, yes, but then had legitimate sons with Alicent and never adequately resolved the contradiction.
From the Greens' perspective, expecting everyone to simply ignore the existence of a healthy adult male heir because Viserys had once named Rhaenyra is hardly a straightforward matter of "stealing the throne." And the Great Council actually cuts against Rhaenyra's case. Rhaenys wasn't passed over because the lords randomly decided they disliked her. The realm had already demonstrated its preference for a male claimant. If anything, Rhaenyra's accession would overturn the very precedent that had previously rejected Rhaenys.
As for Aegon's character, that is a weak argument for succession. Aegon being a womanizer, drunk, irresponsible or morally compromised doesn't automatically make Rhaenyra's claim legitimate. Monarchies routinely produced deeply flawed rulers. And Rhaenyra herself was hardly a safe alternative.
Finally, the argument that Alicent knew Aegon was going to plunge the kingdom into civil war relies on hindsight. The Greens could argue that Rhaenyra's supporters were equally responsible for making the conflict inevitable by refusing to accept Aegon's coronation. Once two factions had competing claims, both sides had to choose whether to compromise or fight.

Of course he knew...but it's one of those situations where potential family legacy and"legitimacy" supercedes the actual facts. Admitting it to himself or even publicly will undermine Joffrey's legitimacy and House Lannister's power. This would make the Lannisters vulnerable. It's just one of those things, where you'd take it to the grave.
Another parallel (though not exactly the same) could be Ghengis Khan accepting his first born son, Jochi as his own even though there was a probability that his real father was a Merkit(one of the rival Mongolian tribes of Ghengis's clan in the 12th century, who kidnapped Ghengis's wife Borte and she came back pregnant after she was rescued). Ghengis was still consolidating power during that period, so he had to protect Borte, Jochi, his clan and the legitimacy of his house and subsequent conquests. Even though there were whispers of Jochi's illegitimacy, Ghengis accepted him as his true born son and continued his conquest of the Mongolian tribes.

Jon Arryn wanted stability in the realm, hence bringing the lannisters into the fold was a good idea.

Precisely, they thought they could bully me into silence. But I've never been one to accept mistreatment.

The lawyer is taking a flat fee. I would definitely push for more. Thank you.

I lodged it at the National industrial court of Nigeria. I'm ready to go all the way no matter how long it takes, but at the same time I'm quite flexible if the settlement offer is good enough.
The offer they sent will be rejected by me, as it was what they initially owed me. So why waste my time for 4-5 months after my exit. It shows they wanted to bully me and withheld my notice pay intentionally. That's utterly unacceptable and there will be consequences for their actions.

It's not looking good for him tbh. He'll likely be sentenced to minimum 15 years.

I don't even think it's arguable. Ronaldo is objectively the greatest champions league player ever.
Altoyedro89
I think it's debatable.

I'm pro-African for life but the One country Africans are utterly delusional. Our respective countries are ridden with inefficient systems, corruption, tribalism and ethnic bigotry to varying degrees.
How would we effectively function as one country if we can't even effectively handle basic ways of life. We should just try to effectively govern our respective states as foster a good relationship with each other, have agreements on trade, immigration, crisis, etc.

Frazier Vs Tyson could go either way.
If Tyson doesn't get him early it would be a long night for him

You're absolutely spot on
The problem with some opposing views is they try to judge medieval or ancient dynastic succession potential conflicts with a modern moral lens.
There was always going to be a war once Aegon and his brothers were born. Their very existence is a big hindrance to Rhaenera's claim.

Yup generally the safest, wealthy, lots of food supplies and prosperity plus they legitimately have arguably the strongest military in Westeros to protect their interests.

Why would the eyrie be vacated during winter ?
Curious

Exactly I think people sometimes use “scheming” as if Otto was doing something uniquely immoral, when he was playing the exact political game every great house in Westeros plays.
He saw an opportunity, married his daughter to a widowed king, and positioned his grandsons for potential succession. Not illegal or unprecedented. The real complication is that Viserys had already named Rhaenyra heir, so the succession was contested rather than automatically belonging to Aegon.
You can absolutely criticize Otto's ambition and manipulation, but acting like he invented some uniquely sinister conspiracy ignores how Westerosi politics actually works. He was playing the game, and the Greens genuinely believed they were protecting what they considered the stronger traditional claim.

That's assuming Rhaenyra would be willing to leave three adult male Targaryens with dragons alive after winning a civil war, which is a huge assumption.
Aegon doesn't have to want the throne. His existence alone makes him a potential figurehead for anyone who wants to challenge Rhaenyra or her children. And Aemond is arguably an even bigger problem, a dragonrider, good warrior, loyal to his family and already personally hostile toward's the blacks.
If keeping rival claimants alive was that easy, half the succession crises in history wouldn't have ended in executions, exile, or imprisonment.
Altoyedro89
I disagree. Otto certainly influenced Alicent, but I don't think you can reduce her fears to Otto “poisoning” her. Rhaenyra's attempts at reconciliation don't erase the fact that, politically, Alicent's sons were still rival claimants who could threaten Rhaenyra and her children at anytime.
Childhood friendships don't tell us what they would have done once the stakes became life or death. By the time Viserys died, reconciliation wasn't simply about two old friends making peace anymore. It was a dynastic war, and historically, rival claimants rarely remained safe after losing.
Altoyedro89
I'm quite surprised at some comments saying she wouldn't have killed them. This situation shouldn't be looked at with a modern lens. Rhaenyra absolutely would have, even without Daemon's influence.
Look at the patterns throughout history involving rival claimants being killed even when they didn't want the throne. Their existence was enough to be a threat to Rhaenyra's claim. Otto was right.
Aegon, Aemond and Daeron were all male Targaryen heirs. If Rhaenyra won, leaving them alive would mean leaving the Green claim alive. Their innocence wouldn't make them politically safe. They only needed to be potential figureheads. Haelena might've been spared though but put under supervision/house arrest.

Precisely. She respected and was fond of Viserys but she had pure passion for Cole.
Altoyedro89
More like they were scared they'd lose as they would've.
Altoyedro89
Cole would eviscerate him with ease. He's the best warrior of his Era.
There is a good reason why they refused to duel him even with the numbers advantage.

She's also a massive murderer.
But the blacks deem her actions as "cool" and "girl boss"
