Yeah but like the jump to cruiser is way bigger still. Let's say you weighed 175. Jumping 25 pounds is adding an extra 14% of your body weight. The jump between 105-108 is like less than 3% of your body weight. The jump to 112 is less than 4%. Honestly they could condense the lower weight divisions because honestly they aren't popular and combining them would increase the depth in each division. Yeah half stone jumps are a higher %bw for them but honestly a 25 pound jump is fucking preposterous

Frankie was out wrestling bigger and stronger guys and qualified for nationals every year he was at college...look up fergusons high school records. Starting on his football team that won state and was a state champion wrestler. Aldo was one of the longest reigning mma champions off all time and has argueably the best tdd in all of mma and is p4p one of the strongest fighters in the sport. Doj Anjos is definitely a better athlete than mcgregor. He's physically stronger has a higher work rate and better cardio.

Why is there no 185-190 weight class but we have so many weight classes 3 pounds apart in the low weight classes. I feel like they should redo the weight classes and just put half a stone between every weight class. 175-200 is a stupid jump

He's not he's about as athletic as anyone in the top 20 but he is a bigger cutter and has better striking. He's not a stand out amongst his peers and many of them posses better strength and conditioning

Well the point still stands anything that can be coached is inherently teachable.

Nowhere did I say he didn't have a hard punch when he started. Please learn to read. I used Tyson as an example because he had great genetics and was a natural puncher but even he spent a crazy amount of time mastering the mechanics of punching. Nature+nurture. Hypothetically take two identical clones of Tyson and put both in a boxing gym doing the same workouts in regards to push ups and sit ups and whatever and only let one of them spar hit the bag shadow box hit mitts do drills etc. After a year tell me who hits harder. After 3 years tell me who hits harder. After 5 years tell me who hits harder.

Punching power can be taught what are you talking about? If something is improvable by coaching better mechanics then you can teach it. World class sprinters for example have to be born with the right genetics to really compete but to say you can't teach someone to sprint is wrong. You can't teach someone to punch like foreman but you can teach someone how to punch pretty fucking hard even if they have average genetics. Nature+nurture not one or the other. Tyson for example spent a lot of time every day in the gym shadow boxing in front of a mirror to really master his punches.

Yeah guys like Wilder and AJ are very physically gifted and you gotta remember there are lots of small largely uncompetitive hws so as long as your a big hw and athletic as hell you can do well
