Not using a VPN, just regular Saturday Googling. It was very odd to see that pop up. I've seen it often on a work computer not signed into my own account. On my own regular home system though I can't remember the last time before today that I saw it.

As a developer, I appreciate good DevOps people and enjoy working with them. Your plight is not specific to DevOps, it's in all industries, all things. For work after a few decades I've slowly learned to do a good job but not a great job.
It's mostly that there aren't that many of us in the world who can appreciate the amazing job we can do so no need to burn out. If anything, it's almost better to aim for the middle or slightly under so the leaders can feel like they're leading, nod the head and go along. I have a difficult time doing that though.
Good luck!

Not a fan of the star but the theme looks awesome!

Is the name of your database, 'database'?

I use Dice. I do this because LinkedIn is owned by Microsoft (is there anything they don't own?) and Indeed became too woke for my taste.

I've never seen that. I just tried [on Eclipse 2023-03] going to dark (ugh!) then back to light (yay!) and both times, as Eclipse suggested, restarted, it worked correctly.
Try a couple of things, File > Switch workspace, is it light now? Switch back to your original workspace, is it sill light?
Add -clean to the line that starts Eclipse on your Desktop OS, restart Eclipse.
Worst case, switch to a new workspace and remember (!!!) to select the three checkboxes under Copy Settings to preserve your workspace layout then import your projects.

I'm not sure about it but it could be cool. I've turned features off before then the more the idea sank in, I started using this features.
On a side note, isn't it interesting how it only took four comments before someone mentioned the great IntelliJ in this Eclipse subreddit.

I use git to track changes in /etc in my systems, I make /etc its own repo. Intrusion detection systems look for changes in files. I imagine there will be a lot of noise in some areas of a FS though.

I agree. It's sad how often /r/java is polluted with IntelliJ advertising and almost anything Eclipse related posted there is downvoted. Eclipse is a solid IDE.

If you're curious, here's more information on the member list who supports Eclipse: https://www.eclipse.org/membership/exploreMembership.php

There's a log at <workspacedir>/.metadata/.log, it may have some clues. You could try the latest eclipse and see if it happens. You could search https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/ and see if anyone has reported the issue or file a new bug there.

I'm on Ubuntu Linux, use Eclipse use Eclipse heavily, pasting from time to time, tried a series of tests today, didn't see issues.
As for the terminal part, do you mean the terminal you can open in Eclipse or the OS desktop terminal like Gnome Terminal or Konsole and it crashes there too, outside Eclipse?

So for the all terrific, all encompassing, math driven, function oriented, stream oriented goodness that started with Java 8 to make sense for 99.9% of people on planet Earth and to work correctly...we have to do 2 checks for the logic to be sound?

Which editor, it is the Java editor, Text editor, JSP editor, XML editor, JavaScript, YAML, or another editor?
Is it Windows, Linux or Mac?
You can search https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/ and file a new bug if needed. Their first response will be, download the latest Eclipse and try to reproduce it there and if you can reproduce it, they will ask for a test case.

It's funny, after all these years I never looked for the option in the console, now I'll use word wrap every day. :-)

Business operates on business math. Business math operates on human logic. Humans say ("if elvis is alive, he lives on the moon" is true as long as elvis is dead.) is non-sensical and non-applicable.

You're not alone, every time I hit the allMatch bug (I call it a bug) you raised in your excellent OP post; I have to rethink and code around it and not use it at all because as a human, it is counter-intuitive.
Edit: To launch nuclear weapons in the United States, two authorized personnel have to turn their keys. By the allMatch logic, if neither turn their key, it's a GO to launch! ;-)

I've used Google Domains for several years and like them. They do offer dynamic DNS. I've not used it before so I can't comment on that part. I use a cheap public VPS and a Wireguard VPN so my home IP is not exposed to the Internet.

Yes, I used to pay for a subscription to Instantiations before Google bought them out.

This demonstrates 3 things:
1) Java is the most flexible language on the planet. 2) var should have remained relegated to the realm of JavaScript'ers. 3) Adam should turn on the lights and use a Light Theme, his eyes are clearly strained.
Turn on the lights people and use a Light Theme, save your eyes and your brain.

Yep, I do like the coolness without the filter but it doesn't take long for the eye strain to start, so I am glad for the filter now, it makes the screen seem warm.

It reminds me of a Dilbert sketch where all the desk workers had coffee piped right to their desks, didn't even need to get up to get coffee.
This could be, I know sometimes I get on a roll and have several tabs going and several trains of thought I'm following sometimes unrelated. I guess either Chrome or google.com or both working together decided a human shouldn't be able to do that. 😎
