I think you would indeed want multiple sensors eventually but for now its seems like they cant fit a smart enough model for unsupervised on HW4. They need to get over this hump first before going after other sensors.
Kriptical
Fair enough but this would have been avoided if the model was smart enough to realise there was an issue and stop - the same thing a human would do if they can't see.
Again, this is a very small problem compared to getting the vehicle to drive properly.
Kriptical
Consistency is a very different thing from ability. Tesla - and the Chinese - have demonstrated way more ability than Waymo with vision, even if they can't match the consistency.
Kriptical
Yeah, I remembered that gates are sometimes still an issue with the current FSD. But street signs also used to be an issue at some point, I imagine it will be solved by a little more training. It's certainly not that the vehicle can't actually PERCEIVE the gate it just doesnt react correctly.
Kriptical
Elon rightly recognised that sensors were never the issue - intelligence is. I have no idea why you guys keep harping on about LIDAR it literally doesn't matter.
All that matters is the size of model that can fit on your hardware and if thats smart enough.
Kriptical
That is quite the take....

Yeah its changed now. I was referring to this chain:

Even if you have watched 1 second of RL in all your life, you know as much as we do.
Kriptical
Eh, as we are now learning, who needs a defense.
Kriptical
How many times does he have to do this in a row before we say NWPO is the best player in the world ?

FYI: they are discussing this thread at length on the Singularity sub: https://www.reddit.com/r/singularity/comments/1vote1t/panicking_software_engineer/

Man, what is going on, compared to LCQ its like these guys are playing in 2x speed.
Kriptical
For real, surely there has to be something else.
Kriptical
Cool post, fuck the haters!

1) Mother of Learning
2) Bog Standard Isekai
3) Reborn Apocalypse
4) Cradle
5) Hell Difficulty Tutorial

It does, but 100 years ago the best method we had for dealing with mental issues was drilling metal spikes into people's heads - it could be a lot worse.
Also, the really annoying thing about it is that with the System in play it might actually be super effective - like that healer that just picked up some mud from the floor to heal that guy with a broken jaw. Even Brin seems super conflicted about the whole thing and we can definitely see he is enjoying himself more now.
Kriptical
Yep, the one benefit of AI is that it might one day get us the edited and streamlined version of Shadow Slave we deserve.
Kriptical
What does this have to do with Apocalypse Reborn, is it the pointlessly evil Dieties ? They both have "reasons" even if they are not good ones. One is bored and the other one likes to fight stuff - like an evil Goku.
Kriptical
Hell Difficulty Tutorial is notable for me in this regard. There are A LOT of fights and quite a few are forgettable but when a really hyped fight comes along its always worth the wait.
Kriptical
No, there is nothing as good as MoL no matter how much I searched. However you can get close if you check out other genre's.
In normal fantasy, it's 12 Lives of Henry August by Clair North.
In regression its Apocalypse Reborn by LM Kerr - but be warned the prose is extremely basic and "anime", that can be a deal breaker for some people.
Kriptical
Could have been great but the author fumbled the last book, I was really hoping this one could be the heir to MoL
Kriptical
Yep, was affecting Cashout and TDM - also lost 1000 elo for it.
Kriptical
Hear hear!

No, there is nothing even close in the US you can buy.
Even for Robotaxi's Waymo might be safer and more performant at the moment but already the bog standard Version 14 software you can get on the new consumer vehicles drives in a far smoother and more natural manner.
Rivian might catch up eventually but it will probably take them many years to do so. Personally, I dont think they have the resources to do it and we will all have to wait for Nvidia's driving software to mature before you can get any real consumer self-driving competition in the US.
Exactly my thought. Intelligence has to get up to par first, and then you can worry about additional sensors.
