Hmm, do you happen to run the WMR TRAY TOOL? I had previously used that and my pc shut down mid stream while it was stopping WMR and ever since that reboot I wasn't able to get it to work so I had to reinstall windows, annoying, but the only way I found that worked in addition to the other previous issue of the device being disabled, who knows how that happened.
I blamed the tray tool and since not using it I've not had issues but that's my cause and effect brain working here.
SpritelyNZ
Try looking in device manager and check to see if there is a hololens device disabled, basically just check the mixed reality devices to make sure they're not disabled. this is what my 7-13 code was related to. Let me know if this works for you.
SpritelyNZ
Check in device manager to see if the hmd is disabled. This was the same code I had and that was the problem.

I appreciate all the comments in this thread so thank you all, this is why I love reddit.
I wasn't privvy to the other thread but this is enough for me to not use the tool as much as I find it having its own merits.
Until I can verify the tool does not pose any risks I will hold off on using it.
I'm usualy pretty particular to what I have on my pc and this one slipped through my good judgement due to the annoyances I was having with wmr.
It's a good lesson to be mindful of software people create, that's not to say they're devious (but could be) but comes down to the code at the end of the day in terms of holes that can appear to expose vulnerabilities or create new vulnerabilities by not following standard practices. Being adverse to sharing ones code that isn't technically commercial means there is no vetting of that code before it gets published.
It's a difficult one because this issue isn't raised as much as the risks determine it should be but is a fair point.
I'm sure this isn't a first as there are many sole developers out there but a lot of them have git repos which helps with having more eyes on the code.
If there are any updates please let me know, I'd like to follow this one.

Nice work man! Great tool to have.
SpritelyNZ
Great for target practice, it literally shows you where to shoot, just find the non blurry bit and bullseye!
SpritelyNZ
I understand that there is some humour in the OP but I think we all got the point that the sweet spot can be hard to perfect especially when all our googly eyes are different.
SpritelyNZ
Try this, haven't seen anyone mention this yet...
Put the hmd on your head until it feels comfortable, then tilt it down a little at the front, I did this and boom, I had the clarity I was expecting.
It feels weird when you tilt it as your brain thinks it's on a weird angle but it isn't and I found it was perfect everytime after that.

Maybe it's coincidental, I'll report back if my reinstall fails.

I have this problem, I have a tool called WMRTrayTool and was using it to turn off my headset and I restarted my pc just before it finished and after that my headset doesn't get detected.
When I now open to tool it says it can't find the registry settings or something to that effect. Sadly, I have to reinstall windows.
What changes did you make before you were getting the "connect your headset" message? I'm talking about any changes, even ones you think wouldn't cause this to happen.

Happy New Year from New Zealand

Beats me.

Thanks for your contribution here. You may see that I posted this a while back and it ended up sorting itself out somehow. Problem no longer exists an dive been simming happily.

Ding. Ding. Ding. Round 2.
All you guys just totally missed the point. The poor OP was just sharing his awesome screenshot when you went off track on your own little adventure.
Sometimes it's not about rules but about the pretty picture.

I don't care about down votes, I'm not so precious about that. I guess it's good for potential buyers to be aware of all the developing edges outside of the good stuff.
A headset such as this is really useful for racing or flight sims as it removes some of the issues like tracking issues and sweet spot given there is a limited view space and doesn't demand the tracking that say beat sabre type game does.
It's a great specific use headset.
SpritelyNZ
Yeah, it will come down to each person's perception. Overall a nice upgrade and my eyes are finally starting to adapt. It's certainly really crisp and there is a good range of colour and brightness, too.
With all that I am trying to overlook the tracking issue when i put my arms down by my side.
SpritelyNZ
I agree, the hype does not reflect the actual sweetspot. Why the reviews overexagerated this I do not know.

Happy VR'ing

Well ships and planes come at varying times so it just means that PBTech had theirs arrive first.
SpritelyNZ
I got mine yesterday. Picked up from PBTech HQ.
SpritelyNZ
This also confirms that the date showing end of January in the order page on the PB website isn't accurate and seems to be a placeholder date.
SpritelyNZ
I've had no headset related issues whatsoever and I've been using it all day.
SpritelyNZ
So I changed it with the Web team last week but don't know how the guy did it as changing to a different delivery method removes you from the queue and puts you at the bottom. He must have done some magic in their internal system. I picked up from the warehouse not the retail store which is where the shipments land at PB then get distributed around the other branches.
Id say yours should be here by the end of the week based on the shipment that came in today. If not next week at worst but I'm reasonably confident you should see it by the end of the week. The guy at PB told me that they expected enough units to fill all of the first wave of preorders.
SpritelyNZ
Well so far I've had none of those issues so let's hope the rest of the batch is issue free.
So strange.
You might need to log a ticket with HP, could be a bug somewhere.
