I grew up in a spot of the city that was often downwind of old Crawford coal power plant on Pulaski. It was never this bad.
grendel_x86
I'm still weirded out by having windows with matching measurements. Also weirded out that the top width is the same as the bottom width, or the glass being a uniform thickness.
The house i grew up in still had coal dust from the coal room / coal chute, even though it had been moved to natural gas like 20 years earlier.

Its worse... they wont have the mod tools that much of this is over. When this all hits in a few days, mods of large subs will have no means to effectively moderate, even if they agree with admins on this.
The ones i used were to coordinate groups to keep bad content off, and check on users to see if we would do full bans or just suspend. I know a few that mod the subs I worked on are just going to instaban people, and have a low bar for locking threads. A bunch have left though, taking some subject matter experts in the process.

I think they are gaming the voting because im seeing votes be the same, but much fewer comments and views from external sites. I think the protests have killed off traffic, but there is no chance we will get official numbers.

Because every time you get ketchup on a hotdog, the ghost of Daddy Daley visits you in your sleep, and curses you with getting dry beefs until you repent.

How can she download on the phone, she is talking to tech support!

Forza5+ cyroutils runs really really well.

They are not illegal crossings, and the immigrants came through a legal means at border crossings. The border patrol then releases them from the camp, and often sends them to other places in an organized way. It's been like this since the 90s, with Chicago getting thousands a year. The problem was Abbot dropping them places with no coordination. The immigrants are often lied to about their destination, making it worse.
The border states are given money to house and care for them, they are not. The money to care for them should follow the documented immigrants.
I think CBP should just remove the whole thing from Texas government. Expand one of the dozens of military spaces, build housing, and do it themselves. This isn't a state issue, especially since we have states trafficking documented immigrants.

I own my home in Chicago (Albany Park). i get my money's worth. The state has issues... but we are workign on them, our finances are looking up, even with our pension issues. We are passing good laws, especially in this current climate of states trying to implement handmaiden's tale.
My roads are good, snow removal puts every other place to shame. Our public transit is good even with the issues currently. Cycling infrastructure is getting built up. Our dept of Forestry is great, and trims parkway trees for free (used last year). The city takes care of fallen trees (neighbors needed this). The state and county also holds utilities to standards, unlike many.
I don't have children, but am happy my money is going to public schools, and there are a few good schools around here. The library is also nice even if i don't use it much.

Louis Rossman is not a fan of spez.
grendel_x86
Albany Park is mostly the same as it has been for the almost 15yrs I've been here.
It's never been super safe, and issues have always sprung up periodically.
grendel_x86
Ah yes, link to the racist sub that the white nationalist stood up because they kept getting banned from this sub for saying racist shit all the time.
grendel_x86
We can take them when it's the organized manner it has been up until Abbot stunts. The rate is dropping back to normal over the last few months according to CBP.
We really need to take away Texas's money they are given to facilitate this since it's obvious they are unwilling to do so. Maybe if they stop getting paid, they will stop treating humans like shit.
I saw one estimate that we should be getting about $100m of that money Texas was given for this year. That would go a long way to house immigrants.
grendel_x86
I'd hope something would get done... But since they resist any form of being policed, I'm not too hopeful.
Maybe the new mayor and review board might. Seems to be making a bunch of cops that post on Reddit nervous.

Good athletic covid masks help here.
A n95 should work every above the 1µg particles. Still seems like an "exercise inside" kinda week though.
grendel_x86
In theory, yes. In current practice, there is no tolerance for other viewpoints in the current GOP.
There is no diversity in the Illinois GOP. Not skin color, religion is pretty much the same, views are the same, etc.
It is really important to have different views and backgrounds. You will not find that in the current GOP. You will absolutely not find that in the IL GOP, Wi GOP, etc.
If you want different opinions, backgrounds, religions education backgrounds, the GOP is not for you.
grendel_x86
Yeah, I was wrong to engage. You are both ignorant and a bigot.
This is why we stopped listening to people like you, and are cutting you out of decisions. Stay in your far burbs, we don't really want you here.
grendel_x86
Nah, you have shown you don't have any idea.
My being here isn't why I know what's going on. You also thinking the alderman is the problem confirms you are the only person in this thread that thinks you are competent.
grendel_x86
So you have no idea what is going on with the city, or what is going on with the AG office. That makes it easy to ignore your crap take since you offer nothing of value here.
If you are just going to regurgitate what everyone else that is ignorant of Chicago, expect to be replied to the same way.
grendel_x86
Chicago is not a liberal city, but it is a democratic stronghold.
We just elected our first liberal mayor in a very long time (Byrne?). We tend to stick to centrists.
Conservatives have no idea how to deal with crime, only how to increase punishment for groups they don't like.
The Republican party can't win in most places without severe voter suppression or gerrymandering.
grendel_x86
Conservatives no longer want compromise or common ground. It's all or nothing. It's why people like Bailey are non-starters. They want a return to the 1950s.
grendel_x86
"Diverse community" is never going to happen for conservatives. They are anti-diversity.
grendel_x86
Yeah. I think it's because of the perceived low stock.
Also, I don't think people realize how much work goes into a standalone house. Condos are a much better starting place.
grendel_x86
Probably wrong sub, but if not, Microcenter. The one on Elston is awesome.
A bunch of the devs disagree with you. Sync, RES, and a handful of others have said they can't get a response.
