To every single person who's made a post about Robin's sister the last 7 years, here you fucking go.

mistahscott

And she's gone!

mackinoncougars

Now we need Ted's sister.

[deleted]

It was weird, because I was watching Pretty Little Liars 2 seconds before I switched to HIMYM.

Mosby... Cosby... it was meant to be. Pretty soon he'll be eatin' a puddin' pop.

At least the "perfect fit suit" analogy was a little more subtle than the "letting Robin go" one.

YOU CAN'T JUST TALK ABOUT DONGNOSE WITHOUT TELLING THE STORY

csl512

A friend of Cook Pu?

alison09

"here" :(

[deleted]

I get it, Cook Pu is a stupid name and it gets stupider and stupider as much as you say it. Cook Pu!

cynognathus

"here" :'(

[deleted]

Okay, guys, very funny. Not gonna get me with Cook Pu.

Wait why the fuck is Ted crying

CaptainChewbacca

Three theories:

  1. Ted's mom died before he got married.

  2. The Mother is dead/a ghost or is dying

  3. Tedd has Alzheimers, which is why he tells all these stories.

[deleted]

I think he was crying because the mom has somthing like cancer or a tumor and he realized she wouldn't be there for their daughter's wedding

Zazilium

I was thinking the same thing! Because a) They've been married for a while and they're still acting like lovey lovey newlyweds and b) the whole other thing with Ted asking for more days with her before he met her.

BOVINE_FETCHER

Also that part in the middle: When what's happening is too intense to deal with it's better to leave it unspoken and just enjoy each other's company.

OH MY GOSH I DIDN'T EVEN CATCH THAT

Annnnnd the dead mother theories are becoming more and more plausible now.

vishalb777

I hope it is. I will cry if she ends up being dead.

flyingseel

It would make no sense if she's dead too. Why would the kids be so pissed that Ted is telling them the story of their deceased mom? Why would he tell them the story of all these people he hooked up with while remembering his deceased wife? Just seems really out of place.

"what mother is going to miss her daughter's wedding" omg so much not good foreshadowing :(

EndureSurvive

I'm not ready for this

Kimbolinaa

Maybe as of 2024 they THOUGHT the mother was dying so they didn't think she would make it to their daughter's wedding. Doesn't mean she actually will die. Maybe she recovers from whatever in between tonight's flash-forward and 2030. At least that's what I am going to tell myself.

darcylynn

I wouldn't be surprised if C + C were trying to play us like that.

load 23 more replies →

rocklikeastone

I think its him. He is going to miss the wedding.

Serendipdip

I agree. I think Ted has early onset Alzheimer's. It would explain telling his kids all these stories from him youth since he knows he'll lose those memories soon. It also fits in with what the Mother said to him about not living in his stories and needing to move forward, because losing his memories for a guy like Ted is the worst possible thing that could happen to him outside of death. She's trying to encourage him not to focus on the past and what he's going to lose.

[deleted]

I had the same thought flash into my head when Ted forgot he told the Mother the broken lamp story and hearing the line about living in the past and in the stories. Of course, the whole "mother missing the wedding" comment and Ted crying threw me off after that...

darcylynn

This would be so much worse than the Mother dying off. I mean, not that I'm happy ANYONE is dying. But, we know Ted. We've been hearing his story for 9 years. We love Ted. We've only sorta kinda known the mother for a few months. It'd be horrible if they killed off the more known character after all that, ya know?

maybe... MAYBE... the mother is setting everyone up to think that she's dying for her own exploding meatball sub-style prank.

Please let me believe.

..... but I'd actually take this comedic twist over her death any day.

I am trying to find a post about this but I can't find one. Did Barney's wedding suit start off extremely large on him, then once he realized how great the wedding will be and all that jazz, the suit fit him well all of a sudden? Thanks!

philifan8169

yes

jimmithy

Yep. Once he realized the wedding was what he wanted, all his doubts (the suit) went away (fit comfortably).

NotUnderage

Sort of cheesy, but not nearly as bad as Robyn floating off into the sky.

Eevee136

It worked. That didn't.

S8E20: "Hi. I'm Ted Mosby. In exactly forty-five days from now, you and I are gonna meet. And we're gonna fall in love. And we're gonna get married, and... we're gonna have two kids. And we're gonna love them and each other so much. All of that is forty-five days away. But I'm here now, I guess, because I want those extra forty-five days. With you, I want each one of them. And if I can't have them, I'll take the forty-five seconds it takes before your boyfriend shows up and punches me in my face. Because... I love you. I'm always gonna love you. 'Til the end of my days, and beyond."

You guys, I'm starting to get really scared that the Mother actually is going to die.

astro-ponies

I was about to say that I don't think people are as crazy for thinking that now...

lamb21

After that scene, I'm starting to feel like the crazy one for thinking she's alive.

[deleted]

It would explain why they were so happy to be an old married couple because they never thought they'd get to grow old together.

moojc

C&C might be fucking with us on purpose. They know about the theory.

It's probably that Ted's mom had died before their own wedding.

RtimesThree

I'm pretty sure they say that Ted's mom is married to Clint in the future. Plus, I don't know...just look at the way he looks at her before crying, and I don't think he'd be that emotional nine years later.

Keeping my fingers crossed for more Mother

[deleted]

Wow that episode was actually really fucking good. Felt like classic himym all the way.

azizinator25

Ironic that Robin has something to say about the cake thing, seeing as she once ate a whole wedding cake out of jealousy/sadness

[deleted]

Is anyone else a little disappointed that they didn't make a bigger deal about Marshall finding out Ted is moving to Chicago? Just a pocket text from Lily. That's it. No big fight or attempt at persuasion? Hmph.

FriendzonePhill

WHAT THE DAMN HELL!?! Central Illinois CBS is airing the gubernatorial debate!! No HIMYM tonight!!! :(

EDIT: And just when I thought it couldn't get worse, I watch the episode and get even sadder... :(

Marioman775

Ouch, that sucks. Central Illinois needs to get its priorities straight.

lynsea

As someone who recently lost their mother, that last scene had me in tears. If this show ends the way we are now predicting it, I don't think I can ever watch it again and enjoy it.

down42roads

So Ted starts crying at "What kind of mother wouldn't be there for her daughter's wedding". Cue "dead mother" theories.

dvars

It would explain why the Mother looks like she hasn't aged. But it could be dead grandmother. I hope Ted's mom is gonna be alright!

down42roads

I dunno. Trying to tell every story left, weekend without the kids to the place they met, that reaction....

pseudonym42

Plus her telling him she doesn't want him to be the guy that lives through his stories.... life is about "moving forward"..... sigh

Ted cries and then there's the image of an empty porch, please tell me she not dying D:

Arguss

Oh shit, I didn't even think about this. Remember how there's that episode where they talk about seeing themselves on that porch when they're 50? (S04E17) But in this episode, it's empty and cold and nobody's out there, ;_;

[deleted]

I never believed the theory till now but I think the mother is dying.

swarls14barkley

Josh Radnor has really improved as an actor over the years. That scene comes close to Time Traveler's good in the feels department.

[deleted]

Oh my god does Ted have Alzheimer's, OH MY GOD IS THAT THE TEARFUL ENDING.

Edit: Oh j/k, the mother might die instead. That's fun.
