Who you got #1 overall?

Who are you taking #1 overall?

Head scout - 91 OVR, High current, 99 QB

Off scout - 84 OVR, High potential, 88 QB

If Covington had the 5* potential it wouldn’t be a question. I’m thinking maybe he can get past it with his mentals?

Jones is supposedly 5* already but his mentals worry me.

Any advice is appreciated!

Nothing_exciting

Give me Covington, if nothing else the team can be better built around his 2nd contract

Mitch, the personality stats are underrated in this game. Those stats decide how much someone will develop and of course their contracts will be cheaper

Jack21113

I’m not sure how much of an effect they have. I haven’t found them helpful in predicting development. A pretty big number of the greatest increases I’ve seen have been from LOW personality stats

hawtdawtz

Tell us what they both ended up at

TheDestroyer72

Dont overthink it, go with Jamal Jones.

DavesHereMan

Jones looks like the better guy

VyrusCyrusson

I’d take Covington if I had to choose between the two.

He might not have as high of a ceiling but he has a much better chance of reaching his ceiling.

DeezDogz13

I’m going Covington

I’ve had bad luck with low work ethic guys. I personally think interview is heavily weighted.

Infinite_West2390

I’m not even gonna cap with you. This is a really easy choice. Jones is the better prospect just cause the interview says you know one has a good personality IQ and you know work ethic that doesn’t make him the better prospect because you gotta also look at that combine. One guy had 40 reps on the bench press, which is very very important for that role when you’re drafting a quarterback. covington looks all right but 10 out of 10 he’s more of a back up player like 77 overall or something like that he could get to like a 80 something, but but Jones is a better prospect all the way. And I would be more worried about Covingtons benchpress more than Jones mental

Diligent-Airline-864

I can’t tell if this is serious or not. Does this game really use bench press as an indicator of QB skill?

Infinite_West2390

There’s literally a few things that you just have to know that when you’re drafting a quarterback is to look at their mental status like discipline, intelligence vision, and decision-making all those really matter with that stuff but the combine with the bench press is a big indicator. In the work ethic, I wouldn’t really care about it. I don’t really interview my first round. Draft picks all that often unless I’m torn between a few positions, but I really don’t. It doesn’t really indicate anything for me on a quarterback at all because it only really the quarterback really needs just a good offensive coordinator or a head coach that is a offensive that was a offensive coordinator and is good with working with quarterbacks. That’s how you will get the best out of any quarterback that you draft it might take a few years sometimes like what I’ve seen lately is in the recent updates. It literally will take a whole rookie contract in six years to finally get the to get to their full potential with everything so so as long as you have a coach that is basically a quarterback coach and can work with quarterbacks you’re gonna be good no matter what and they’re gonna get the best of the quarterback no matter who you draft and literally look at that combine bench score. One guy only had 17 bench presses. The other guy had 42 bench presses and he’s a he’s a little bit mobile in the pocket as well. We’re not comparing the same to prospects because if you don’t look at the combine score you’re just using the interview then yes Covington is better but he’s not a better playerbecause honestly Jones had a good interview as well. It’s just the work ethic wasn’t high or medium or anything like that, but you look at the IQ and the personality. Those are two good things right there in the middle. The other guy just has the interview. He doesn’t have the same combine scores or it’s even close honestly

Diligent-Airline-864

In my experience, low work ethic has a much lower chance of being generational.

Infinite_West2390

Yes, I’m not disagreeing with that but that doesn’t mean if the players not I guess we see things differently. I’m looking for starters or repetitively players that can step in play but it’s hard to gauge that what quarterback as well because of the update has also made it very critical to have a coach that is good with quarterbacks because 10 out of 10 they’re not gonna get to their full potential until year six or seven so you’re looking for a starter or relatively a player that can step in and play

Infinite_West2390

And I don’t look for generational quarterbacks either I look I’d rather have a 86 to 83 overall quarterback be able to build a great roster for instead of paying someone that it’s taking 60 $50 million and can’t get over a hump in the playoffs it’s just from my experience. I’ve won more that way. I’ve even learned how to win with 77 overall quarterback as well it’s all about your ability to build roster.

Infinite_West2390

Yes, that is the main indicator on if a quarterback is good or not sometimes it doesn’t work out like that but most of the times if the bench presses high then yes the quarterback is 10 out of 10 going to be good

BeautifulAccurate909

Give me the boy from Georgia.

Joel_Gilmore

Covington, looks like he's got a lot better intangibles
