Amazon returns just get entered back into inventory without a human inspecting them. Amazon claims that a human does inspect each item, but they aren't actually doing it.
It's particularly bad with electronics. People will order a TV, or a graphics card and get bricks or other garbage instead.
My mom is literally working at Amazon verifying returned items so in fact they do, and it applies to all the returned products they receive at this location. But she has like 20 seconds per item, so if it's in a box you don't have time to check what's inside.
Additionally, if she makes a mistake and marks a damaged or used product as perfect condition it's never an issue, but if you can't keep up and go slower than the norm, then you will have an unpleasant talk with the manager about your performance.
What stops someone in that position from just skipping the actual check, and instead marking it without looking?
I would say we have found the problem
yeah, there always be some lazy person everywhere. wants the money but not the work

You just proved what people are saying here, that Amazon doesn’t check the returns to see if it’s used/damaged or not. Since according to your mom’s experience, there’s actually no incentive to make sure the returned product is unused and undamaged. And all the incentive to quickly “inspect” within the unreasonably short allotted time.
The inspector is not penalized for marking damaged products as perfect while getting penalized if the inspection takes too long.
Yes, thank you for explaining what I wrote, although I think I was aware of it already
"If it's in a box you don't have time to check what's inside". Then they're not checking them 😂
you barehanding it is more insane
Well it has to pass QA somehow…
QC passed
Yup, I once received a slow cooker from Amazon, covered with stains and food bits.
New to you.
Free bonus
I just stopped using Amazon because of shipping but now I got another reason haha
Please send those back... I collect them in a coffee can.
I have had three items in the last three months that were shipped from Amazon and were clearly used.
Seems so many things I've gotten from there I've had to return. I wont pay new price for a used item.
That's not ideal.....
Threaten with a lawsuit.
Everything on Amount is used these days
Those chinese qc testers normally don’t include pictures in most, did you get pics?
Just quality control. They test each one before it leaves the factory
