I'm pretty sure this is because Google/Apple takes a cut from any in-app transaction. Browser (or PLUS app) prices will always be better than app store prices.

It’s to offset the App Store fees. Most apps do this. Same reason why YouTube subscriptions are cheaper if you go through the website instead up through the app.

I purchased two complete series during their 100% coin back sale and it was over 1000 coins. They refuse to give me my coins back because when using the unlock all on the mobile site, it does not include the free episode. So I lost over 1000coins over one episode. For me, I am able to purchase more coins but it is the principle of the matter and their customer service is a joke.

So when you download apps it tracks how you use it, all apps do this. They can sell basic info like email, phone number if they do that (idk if Lezhin does this, I never downloaded their app and I’m pretty sure you can disengage some of it in settings). Using the browser instead helps with adblock and vpn if you have that enabled in browser. I think if you download a vpn for the phone in general that’ll help with apps the same way tho. I am so illiterate with tech 😅😅 I would just look it up.
But also honestly at the end of the day, it’s just comics you don’t really have to do anything. You’re perfectly fine like this too, but I guess based on the prices I would just use the web browser. It seems cheaper.
Dating myself but because I’ve used tumblr since 2011 that’s the only app I like and pay a premium for. I’ve deleted all other apps except for Reddit cause I’m lazy and Bluesky bc I made an account and barely use it.

The Lezhin App doesn't collect any extra info compared to the website, the only things it can do is send notifications and download chapters to your device for offline viewing.

An adblock will be no use here since there is nothing to block, and more generally a VPN can't protect you against this anyway... especially as most of the VPNs sell your data themselves.

I know, nowadays buying digital products on websites is not actually "buying" (e.g. steam, playstation, etc), and they can remove the product from your library as much as they want. But if that's the only way to support an artist I like, then I bought.... If there's other way, I'd go for that.
this isn't uncommon for apps in general that regularly take payment; multiple webtoon apps actually do this. it's because payments received through apps have to give up a cut to apple or google, whereas payments received directly through their website go fully to the company. it's often worth checking out pricing in a browser for any transaction you might be doing in a mobile app.

And you can usually do it through your phone browser in desktop mode. Twitch is the worst about this.
