Could be a bruise or infection. what is your kh? I would watch very closely if it even starts to get worse. Pull and apply iodine under scales and on top.
i have some api kh test ordered, but im uncertain. im going to quarantine and treat tomorrow. you would use iodine over nitrofurazone powder?
It could only be a bruise so just watch closely every day. If more scales rise up etc. than go for the tank. If it starts to get worse then use nitrofurazone. Just have the tank working and operating correctly just in case. Let us know what your kh is . It could be important. Forgot to mention and watch the red spot
Kh and alkalinity are very high, around 300 alkilinity and 80 dkh, ph is a very steady 7.5-7.7 range
80 dkh that is over 1400ppm/kh. do you mean 8dkh? and keep us posted on your koi.
Kh is 300 ppm Hardness gh is 160 ppm
Then you are safe with your water. Keep us posted
Evaluated all my fish and noticed red on my 16 inch showa And my 14 inch kohaku has a notch of her left fin out
Made a 120 gal quarantine and my vet examined and is having me treat by mouth antifungal medication
Im also looking to get non iodized salt to treat quarantine to 0.2% salinity and bring my pond to 50% volume and treat to 0.1%
He did not make it overnight, post mortem diagnosis was fungal infection
No other fish have symptoms
Sad
When they get to this stage, they don't last long, sorry for your loss.
I feel so sad for you and your koi 🥺
So sorry to hear that he didn't make it. That sucks.
I saw where your ammonia was .5 - consider having some Seachem Safe on hand to neutralize the water immediately. It binds the ammonia on contact. How often do you perform water changes, how many gallons and #/size of fish?
10k gallons, and currently about once a week Stopped feeding below 50 degrees
