Consistently inconsistent...looks really cool in my opinion.

MASTER_L1NK

It's... legible...

[deleted]

Practice. What I did was write out letters in various styles and picked out the ones I liked best and then just practiced over and over till it was my handwriting.

saltyoursalad

saving this comment, cause i need to learn/relearn how as well. my handwriting is so bad.

allisonwonderland00

I like it.

You should try to write a little slower and use that time to focus on making each letter look better. At the start that usually means writing them as you were taught in school (just the very basic shapes of the letters i.e. font Ariel), but once you get used to making them more consistent, then you can have more fun with it and change "your font" to something you like more.

It'll take you some time but not as much as you'd think, don't be discouraged. Also if you're at a stage in your life where you don't write a lot than you should try to incorporate more of that as it'll significantly accelerate your handwriting ability.

I usually write all my stuff in obsidian (i can touch type pretty well), but maybe i should just start doing it with pen and paper so i have somewhere to practice...

auroranavaar

read a book and write down proper spelling and definition of words, typo is not for pen and paper, they're spelling errors lmao. but that's what i did when i learnt script.

savyexe [OP]

yeah u right, i spend most of my day coding and visual studio's intellisense autocompletes most of my stuff (also english is my second language so that doesn't really help either)

auroranavaar

i actually learned this technique practicing german :) very versatile

felinelawspecialist

This has a regular irregularity that I somehow find appealing. Maybe it's the grid paper in background, but... I don't hate it

savyexe [OP]

regular irregularity is definitely a new one but now that you mention it it does make sense lol

Do what my actual five year old does and practice writing in a four ruled notebook. There are four lines to write in. Works for both cursive and print.

Small letters between the blue lines. As in the top should touch the top blue line and the bottom should end at the bottom blue line. Tall letters like h and k should touch the top red line, and letters with twins like g and y should touch the bottom red line.

This is an example of what you need.

I have bad hand writing and this isn’t that bad.

EnvironmentalNet265

I personally think your handwriting is cool

PLPolandPL15719

connect the letters, practice, straighten them out ie keep specific ways

Accomplished-Fox5456

Your writing is actually pretty interesting

glubglob_blob

Your writing is normal, but you can always improve. I'd say to practice not having autocorrect in your phone, to start addressing the misspelling (if you're willing, study a bit). There are books to cover letters and practice, too. That would be a good start, training your coordination skills.

The things that stand out to me is that some of your letters, like o, are above the line when they should be on the line. The letter y should descend below the line. And your spacing between words is irregular.

That said, I didn't have trouble reading it except in a couple places. I've encountered far worse.

savyexe [OP]

interesting, I'll def keep those two in mind, specially the spacing

OGigachaod

You write better than I do, I'm 46.

AzureEisheth

Ironically your handwriting is fairly consistent.

Can totally understand you wanting to improve the legibility of it to look like the social norm.

Like anything, changing a skill comes down to practice. Do it when you have the luxury of taking your time and find a style you want to mimic. Then practice.

It's probably going to seem painfully slow to begin with but with practice will come familiarity. With familiarity will come speed.

I know the pain because I'm trying to learn another language at the moment with a very foreign style to what I'm used to.

Mine looks like the 5 year old version of that language style.

datstartup

Focus on the appropriate high of each letter (t, l, g, h, f ... should high enough) and try to write them in the way that all the bottom of letters are on the same line. This will hugely increase your writing.

MongooseMelodic

Is it just me but I really like this style

savyexe [OP]

i don't know mate, i do like some things about it, but what bothers me is how inconsistent it is. the same letter looks very different even if its in the same word lmao

MongooseMelodic

But its like almost consistently inconsistent if that makes sense. And its actually very legible. U space ur letters more or less evenly and that makes it easy to read for me. If i saw this print in a novel id love it.

Vultrogotha

i would say to slow down and focus on your letting. maybe writing in all caps would be better. maybe find a font and put it on a doc. trace over the letters until you write how you like.

savyexe [OP]

the biggest thing here is probably to slow down. I write (and talk for that matter) extremely fast for no good reason

Terrible-Value7116

Wow I love you "a" style

You could use handwriting practice books, they helped me improve my handwriting

KellynHeller

The a and s are the same. It's weird

[deleted]

You need glasses. Not even close.

KellynHeller

Very similar

[deleted]

Look at the word "same" in the first line. Or aswell. not even close.

KellynHeller

Seems you're the one that needs glasses. Even OP agrees with me and it's his hamdwriting

Numerous_Tie8073

I think this is a mental trick. If you look at the 'a' that starts 'any' it really looks like an 's' but when you look at OPs a and s next to each other there's some flow similarity but the shapes are plainly different.

KellynHeller

I'll agree with that. But they both look decently similar.

Tbh I've never seen an 'a' shaped like that. Very interesting.

[deleted]

Well, the s leans to the right and the a leans to the left. The a has a hole in it and the s does not.

savyexe [OP]

hadn't noticed, now i can't unsee it lmao

[deleted]

Still can't see it. They lean different directions and the "a" has the appropriate hole while the s does not.

Slow down. Certain letters should be taller and some drop below the bottom line.
