Bills Post Procedure & Payment

I had a colo/endo in Nov. They claimed at the time some of it may not be covered. Specifically the biopsy (if required) and anesthesia. A few weeks after the procedure I got a statement for about $400 in uncovered charges for the biopsy and some labs. I paid this bill immediately.

Yesterday (months later) I got another bill from them for $600 for anesthesia that was either "denied or ineligible at the time of service". There is not itemized list or explanation just an amount and a message that it's time sensitive and to call or I could be responsible for the charges.

Does this seem right? We did change insurance on the 1st of the year but it should have been billed before that. Who denies anesthesia for a colo/endo? I thought it was mandatory to cover preventive care under ACA?

My guess is that you got a surprise bill from an anesthesia provider that you didn't choose. Since January 1 you're protected under the No Surprise Act, but since this happened in November you might not be protected. What state are you in? Can you see if this provider is in-network with your old insurance? Make sure you request an itemized bill with all procedure codes.
