Our realm is all friends and family, 14 of us, spread across three generations. To be fair, the one minor who's whitelisted doesn't play with us much, they're 12 and we old folks aren't cool enough, I guess 😂 It's definitely considered a "forever world" by us, and has been chugging along for 4 years next month <3
40’s. I play either with my kids or on my own. Pretty happy plugging along building shit.

I'm in my 40s too, and play only with my SO.
I have thought about how I miss playing with others on MC, but also don't want to step away from our world, as we've built it up all year long.
The main factor is that I would want to play with people I know I enjoy being around, so just diving into a new save with some new people isn't what I want.
I used to have a bunch I played with, but we all went our own ways about a decade ago.
I'm also converting friends to MC, and then enjoying a playthrough with them. You are making lots of sense here...
The main factor is that I don't want to have my attention pulled away from our world. I have ADHD, so that I have stuck to this 1 save, for this long, is an achievement for me. I at least want to see my vision actually fully realised this time 😂.
I think, for me, once I have done that (or grown fully bored of this world), I'm gonna look out for a chill place to play with some guys, and make some new friends. I do miss the fucking about, and trolling (not griefing) my MC buddies.
I agree. I guess there is magic in both, so I want to find a collective to game with. But also run my home world in parallel. The grind is way more fun with some antics from other players...
I totally get the adhd thing, I have so many projects all over the place that I bounce between 😂
I've been like that all my life, and have only recently discovered me having ADHD. Now I know why my focus is pulled in a million different directions, I can focus a bit more. I reckon I have another month or 2 building in this world, to "finish" it (as if a world is ever finished, of course). I want to get it done, as I haven't ever had a world that didn't have at least 30 projects to finish, when I gave up on it.
OP posting this, is giving me an itch I haven't felt in years though, and I'm actually getting a bit existential (hyperbole) about wanting to find a small group to play with 😂😂.
I'm torn between wanting to play with others, and all the joy I know I'll get from that (and that sweet sweet dopemeine) and the knowledge that if I do, I can probably say good bye to finishing my current world 😂.
I see your dilemma, and trust me, my adhd kicks hard too - so I truly get you. 🙌 I would also like you to consider that it doesn't have to be so black or white here... you can definitely enjoy the solitude and big vision builds in your home world, at the same time benefit / enjoy / learn from the comradere and community fun in multi-player.
Like you say, you will quickly know if you can enjoy the game with another person or not. Its pretty low commitment 😆
I play on bedrock on a server that just started (under 1k days) with other “adult” gamers. It’s a lot of fun playing with others and making a mini community. DM me if you’re interested in joining! I’m 45 btw and have dabbled with MC on and off since its early beta. The depth and scope of this game is easy to miss from the outside.
48 here and have an 18+ realm. Not a large group but we do have a nice variety of ages and people. Some new dads, some whos kids are about to go to college and some just starting life as an adult. We are a great ragtag group of people there for each other and have a good time when we play Minecraft together. The first realm we had lasted 3+ years and just opened a second realm recently and was so grateful 90% of them came back! Always looking for new players to join our Bedrock Hardcore realm, always good to see players online.
48 here and started back in April at around same time the movie came out. I didn’t start playing because of the movie, it happens at around that time my daughter asked to play and i decided to research because I was concerned about online scene but was relieved to see there’s single player mode then I learned about realms.
Because my daughter plays on her iPad, I play using Bedrock on my PC so we can be on same Realm together.
My girlfriend set up her own Realm so I play with her there in Survival and in Creative with my daughter
Pretty wide range of ages on our realm. I try not to discriminate if someone is a griefer try to put them on visitor.
32 yr old here, im playing with my son in law and my co workers. First time playing this game. I regret not playing mc back in the day.
