2008 Texas Longhorns Offense
Hear me out. Was this offense game changing? No. Was it record shattering? No. Was it remarkably effective? Absolutely. This offense didn’t have anything close to a 1,000 yard rusher but colt mccoy did set the completion rate record that stood until burrow/mac jones broke it 11 years later. Looking at the highlights, it had no business being this effective but it was and it was built on a few principles: rollouts that give the qb to run or get the ball out, option pitch plays, short to intermediate throws and standard passes that cover all three levels of the field horizontally. Before TE Blaine Irby went down with a knee injury that basically derailed his career, they went out in 10 personnel the majority of the time. Anybody willing to help me come up with a custom playbook for this?

It’s probably not the exact offense since it’s older than 2008 and coaches tend to evolve, but it’s a starting point. Greg Davis was the OC for Texas from 1998-2010, coaching Vince Young in 2005 and Colt McCoy in 2008. Enjoy.

Oh yeah I’ve read this one. This is when they ran a strictly pro style offense with a lot of 21 and 12 personnel. He started to go more spread when he found out Vince was a dude
