NIL and the portal has made college football into the Wild West.

On one hand, it’s good because every game has the potential to be a good one. It’s not the 4-5 big boys and then everyone else. Playoff expansion was necessary. The B10 and SEC cannibalizing themselves makes for great TV.

On the other hand, players are not developing within systems. It takes a few weeks of live game reps for newer players to “figure it out.” The days of guys learning and developing are pretty much over. As a result, football at the highest levels has become extremely sloppy.

Yes I switched to RM for 26(not buying 27 until I have a real reason to) and tweaked a couple of settings to my taste. Much better games on All American. I hated his Large pass lead setting so I turned it down to medium and increased pass catching to 80.

Teach run fits and pass drops. Don’t teach “finding the ball.” That slows them down and they won’t react before the ball is 4-5 yards downfield. Big bonus if you can teach them to read an OL, but I don’t know if OLs move much at that level.

Run. The. Ball.

The fact that you are still losing to this defensive strategy is what’s mind-boggling.

Matt’s sliders are built with the intention of getting the best possible animations and player interactions. Unfortunately, most games can feel really easy with them even on Heisman unless your team isn’t good or you hamstring yourself on purpose. I still like them because the game feels REALLY good, but it hardly gives a feeling of realism when it comes to stats.

Default sliders with classic passing controls would give you that arcade feel with laser accuracy and great blocking.

You have to change your way of thinking. In the old games you had to think like you’re the RB. In the new ones you have to think like you’re the QB. It’s really not hard. I switch back and forth between 14 and 26 all the time.

I like the ratings matter AA sliders on 26 as a base. I turned pass lead to medium and user catching up to 80 and find the game feels good and challenging for me there. Blowouts against good teams are very rare and stats seem to be realistic as long as you don’t sim.

Only sliders I tried in 27 during the free trial was Matt’s and it felt pretty good. His sliders give the best possible animations and player interaction, not necessarily the best challenge if you’re on AA. You’ll have plenty of games where you pull away comfortably even with even teams.

Momentum and physics bow to the almighty animation RNG.

The_Coach69

I love when in air collisions don’t match the physics for the sake of a drop animation. Had a WR jump for a ball while moving towards the sideline, but when the CB contacted him from behind he came to a dead stop in midair instead of flying towards the sideline.

In 26 I switched to ratings matter sliders on AA and it made a huge difference for me. Every game against even teams feels like a dog fight. Only adjustment I made with it was to change the pass lead from large to medium because my 98 accuracy QB kept sailing passes.

The_Coach69

Not low enough.

The_Coach69

Wrong game. This is the sub for RE2, not 4.

The_Coach69

“My QB is terrible, I made a bone-headed decision not to go for it on 4 and 1, and we failed to capitalize on them missing TWO field goals…but that no-call was totally the reason we lost!”

Kiffin hitched his wagon to the wrong QB.

I taught myself to use Revamped in 26 recently after years of classic and placement. I find it gives a more realistic feel for passing by timing the meter and brings ratings into play a whole lot more. The non-revamped controls are too arcady and laser accurate even with sliders set lower.

The_Coach69

His sliders are calibrated to give the best possible animations. Sometimes the games can be easy, other times not so much. Use them as a base and tweak them until you like the gameplay.

The_Coach69

Much more effective to run the ball using multiple TE’s to add gaps for defenses to defend. Also modern TEs are a matchup nightmare in the passing game while also being solid run blockers. So defenses are in conflict: do we add more bigger bodies to help stop the run at the cost of pass defense? Or do we bend, but don’t break while matching passing personnel?

The_Coach69

I played the weekend trial last month, and I’ll say this: not at full price. I liked some of the additions and changes, and the overall gameplay felt smoother than 26, but it’s not enough to warrant upgrading. Either buy it cheap or wait until 28.

The_Coach69

Road to Glory is a bad, bad game mode and has been since 25. Play dynasty and never touch RtG again.

The_Coach69

But, you can offline. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The_Coach69

You can add it as a custom playbook using NW’s playbook as a base.

The_Coach69

Technically it’s already there as one of the flexbone formations. Just need to add influence trap and Sally counter off the rocket motion, and a waggle pass. They won’t flesh out an entire buck sweep series unfortunately…they still haven’t added the Power T series to the T formation(trap, power, counter, keep, pass).

The_Coach69

Master Sword from LoZ…introduced as an all powerful weapon and reused multiple times.

Chainsaw from Doom II…You got the Chainsaw. Now find some meat!

The_Coach69

Personally I’m not buying. 26 has its issues, but recruiting by the computer is better…even if they do hoard talent.
