The Mission Offline a social platform for people who want the social part back.

Blame it on bad market research or just poor forethought, but I had no idea that this page existed. And it is exactly where I should have been talking way earlier in development. I have been working on a website called Mission Offline that is pretty much everything that you guys have been talking about here. It's not just a replacement of Reddit, I feel like I should be clear about that first: but instead, it covers pretty much every spectrum of the social media suite. Our community sections and post sections bring that reddit feel without the toxic. I am currently a solo developer who is. Making this because I wanted a better home online and I feel like it's something that a lot of people are looking for and clearly this community is a perfect example of that. I really support everything that you guys are doing here and And I'm glad to be here. Yes, I know I have low karma. I actually got off Reddit for a long while because of a lot of the issues that you guys are talking about, but I heard about this. And I knew that I needed to pop in and say hello. The core principles are no platform advertising and no sale of personal data. We want a place where people can share their work, have conversations and build their own communities.

It's called MissionOffline.Org . Please feel free to have a look around and check out the BETA page if you have any questions. Obviously it is early stage so please let me know if any changes come to mind. We can build something amazing.

All site side content with be developed by a dedicated team as soon as funding makes this possible.
I'm ngl I am not even sure if we are big enough to use the brand tag but I did it to be safe.

Definitely noticing that speech to text did me absolutely no favors in that post.

bring that reddit feel without the toxic

I'm gonna need to hear more about how you do it without the toxic before I try another site

Well for one , no advertising, 2, explicit rules against rage and click bait, 3, no-one under 18. meaning that we don't have as much of the immature users and brain rot, 4, we got rid of competition by removing any hidden algorithms. We just let you decide what you want to see when. Then I added a bunch of non-AI tools for creators to button it all up. Granted it's still early days, which means loads can change based on what the community wants.

I despise reddit's use of AI for many reasons, but hearing that AI is categorically avoided isn't a selling point for me, either.

I have problems with AI being used badly and applied rashly, which this site does, but I'm strongly in favor of it being applied well, and it can absolutely help with moderation of large subs, if it's opt-in and with a strict training/alignment framework to ensure it matches what the human mods in a particular sub are already doing, instead of using site-wide settings that the mods have no say over.

Reddit's just an example of how to do AI terribly.

Let's do it better! (Auto-mod systems are going to be entirely human developed and entirely set up by those in the community it is for.). Every community has their own needs and intentions. That being said, Human mods will always take priority. And the community will be guiding all of these important systems based on what the community wants.

More than a night's work, but will be in in a few days as I work on it. Good catch!
