Has anyone tried VR on the XAX?
I’m wondering how much more capable this device is vs the regular Z1E ally in VR performance. Thanks peoples!

I tried Half Life Alyx off mine but using a 7600m xt EGPU and found the performance adequate. However the wifi performance doing a direct wifi connection between it and my Quest3 was not good enough for a good experience, which I can't really explain as it seems like that should work fine. I haven't tried it plugged in nor with the iGPU. I'm curious if using the dongle for the Steam Frame would work well.

I tried it on the z1e Ally X and it definitely works. The quality is similar to the PSVR 1, lower quality but good enough if it’s your only option.

I imagine itll be bare minimum performance but should work. It is slightly more powerful than a GTX 1060, so expect to play VR games that ran on systems in 2019, but anything else low graphics should work too. I had luck running boneworks on a RX 470 back in the days, and that was a step down from a rx 480/gtx 1060, but that was also on a WMR headset which was only 1440p. Thermals might be the only limitation. Maybe I'll test it for fun later on.
Edit: So I went and tested it with both the xbox ally x and quest 3 on wifi. It does decent on beat saber, but virtual desktop is needed, the quality wasnt good on steam link. With performance on low I could hold 90fps at 100% resolution, latency was fine for me. I'll test half life Alyx to stress test it and get back.
Edit 2: VR on HL Alyx runs fine on low, havent tested higher quality but low settings is a stable 89-90fps, it did render at 81% though. Again, played it over wifi on both devices and latency was solid for me (some might take issue with 90ms). A lower resolution headset would run even better.
Also, worth noting I ran these in Desktop mode rather than FSE because it is just easier managing multiple apps, so there's probably slight performance loss there.
