it was a road trip. I charge at home like 95% of the time

dirtyvu

The electrician that installed mine didn't mention any problems. It was a hard wire installation and he was done within an hour.

Maybe I'll ask his opinion the next time I see him (he does a lot of wiring for the medical buildings my boss owns).

The premise is based on costs for home charging. That only applies if you can home charge. A lot of ev proponents intentionally leave out the fact that their cost savings only apply when home charging. I only pointed out with real life experience with real life information that the information provided only apply when home charging.

Ty!

dirtyvu

The graph does not indicate what you're saying at all. It is purely doing fuel costs and distance driven.

dirtyvu

The whole premise of this post is purely cost of fuel. It's not about performance. Do you see performance as being part of his metrics ? No.

I clearly stated that to get fuel costs to favor EV, you have to charge at home. If you can only charge at public stations, you cannot get those fuel saving costs. Do you dispute what I wrote?

dirtyvu

I've never installed this kind of stuff. Can I just tighten it as much as possible or buy a torque wrench

dirtyvu

so it's a battle between the haves (home owners) and have nots I guess

dirtyvu

EV owners do tend to have more money and thus are home owners.

dirtyvu

That's what I wrote. Please read. It's not unrealistic . Most Americans can't charge at home . This isn't the outback. We don't have kangaroos either.

dirtyvu

I agree !

dirtyvu

Yes, but they don't get electricity for free. They're nice to provide it to you.

dirtyvu

Nice !!! When you have a chance, I would appreciate feedback ! :)

dirtyvu

Wouldn't that be nice! Can I hang out there

dirtyvu

I still need AM just for sports broadcasts. a lot of broadcasts are blacked out when using the Internet apps but fully available on AM radio.

dirtyvu

that's not a peck on the lips. full blown frenchie.

dirtyvu

outdated? you still have 12-year-old Teslas on the road. How can you talk about outdated tech and then discuss a 2024 Outback?

It's true about depreciation. If you plan on keeping the car a long time, then you don't think about depreciation. If depreciation is a factor and you want the EV life, you can lease. Or buy the Outback.

And there are ways to justify the expense. The convenience of charging at home. The cost of charging at home. The excellent vehicle performance. The ride and comfort quality. some excellent tech.

I love my bZ Limited AWD and plan on keeping it a very long time. If I was a person who kept upgrading a car all the time, I wouldn't get any EV unless I was rich.

dirtyvu

I can't wait for ionna to come here! Heard soicj good about them

dirtyvu

You're too charged so I'll keep it short. There is no such thing as a stripped down prius any more. A rav4 hybrid gets around 40+mpg and that's with a lead foot. A mid-size camry gets around 50-52 mpg.

I love my EVs but if you want an honest conversation then have an honest conversation. I love them because of convenience, performance, and cost savings at home. But if I lived in an apartment or condo, I would probably stick to gas. There's no wrong in that. Not everything is best at everything.

dirtyvu

Yes toyota hybrids have come a long way

dirtyvu

Wish that was real for all tesla drivers

dirtyvu

Wish that was real for all tesla drivers

dirtyvu

That's not free. That's work paying for it. There are always costs. But nice to have work pay for it! Kudos !

dirtyvu

I really laughed at that. Good one

dirtyvu

Tesla is selling that idea. And the general public agrees. Car Youtubers are even excited about buying it.
