Inspiron 13 7375 2700U Driver update inverts Colors in some games, kinda

Hey Everyone!

So far I have in love with this machine. But after this driver update from dell it has messed up colors in same games. The driver does help with performance but this color issue is just off-putting. I know I can roll back the video drivers, but I wonder if it is just a GPU driver issue.

I was goofing around showing my wife the change, when I touched the screen. it took a second to register the touch, but after it did it changed the colors back to normal. Only when touching the screen.

So is this really a video driver issue? Or is this something else Dell has messed up?

I just thought it was odd and wanted to share.

Before you blame the driver!

Just Do It. Then you know.

In regards to the inverted colors, I found something that helped me with the new Dell GPU driver for my Dell 7375 Ryzen 5 2500u.

I play World of Warcraft on the laptop and I changed the Battle.net file properties in the Compatibility tab and clicked the box for Disable fullscreen optimizations.

Right clicked the Battle.net desktop icon, select Properties, go to Compatibility tab, click the box on for Disable fullscreen optimization.

When I launch the game now, the colors are not inverted.

I encountered the same problem with my hp envy x360 2500u. I managed to resolve it with switching back to window mode, then flipping back to full screen.

I rolled back the driver and waited for a new one to be issued by Dell.

last night it installed a new one. But that actually kills the video card. I have to get into safe mode to roll them back again.

Yeah, the Dell stuff is so buggy, I nuked everything and reinstalled Windows fresh from a USB flash drive. Then try the Dell Update program. That seems to be ok. Doesn't fix the inverted colors in some games, but at least it doesn't completely f*ck things up when you're trying to update a basic driver. Glad to know I wasn't the only one affected.

Had the same issue when I upgraded to 1803 on my 2200G. The latest Q2 Radeon drivers fixed it. Not sure if those are out for mobile Vega tho.

I'm also having these issues on some games with the Ryzen 7 2700u with the latest Dell drivers and AMD. Here are 3 temporary fixes:

  • Change the resolution inside the game settings
  • Plug in the HDMI port
  • Touch the screen (crazy, I know, but if you touch the screen, the colors will correct themselves temporarily

I have talked to AMD, Dell, Microsoft, and one of the game developers. I have a theory that it's related to DirectX, but I haven't been able to confirm it. Some games are inverted, some games are not. Some games have crazy colors that are beyond inverted, they are like wild colors. It's very difficult to explain what is going on and I have no idea who is responsible.
